What Have You Been Watching Lately? (No Spoilers)

Agree re The Dear Hunter.

Have you ever watched Six Feet Under? Very good too.

It's on the list! That and Mad Men.

Given my current rate of finding time to watch, should be done with them in about 2025......

Don't worry. It's about death. So time will wait for you.

managed to catch up with the first episode of ITV series The Ipcress Files (reboot/ reworking / revisitation/ remake of the 60s Michael Caine film)

( which annoyingly clashes with the final series of Peaky Blinders on BBC at the same time on a Sunday evening !)

Well produced, well acted and obviously decent funding behind it too.... don't know if having seen the original 1965 spy thriller film several times in the past was a help, but it was reasonably enjoyable.

that said, with actor Joe Cole playing the role of Harry Palmer ( Michael Caines role in the 60s film) , I couldn't help spontaneously running the theme from Joe 90 in my head, on loop, after about ten minutes of viewing

I’ve recorded it and I am looking forward to it.

I enjoyed it, to the extent I finished episode6 today this meaning I can peaky blinder happily, the programmes about the real peaky blinders was very interesting

I watched that and was baffled by the soundtrack cover of the 5678’s cover of Woo Hoo which is in the Kill Bill film which is set in modern era but the 5678s are a surf rock band. Turns out Woo Hoo was a 50s song all along. Sounds nothing like either in the tv Ipcress.

On and booked up to see the 5678s at my local venue in a few months.

It’s a nice touch that the lead has the Harry Palmer glasses to give a link back to the original. But after that it’s down to the actors.

A bit like Lupin on Netflix.

Funeral in Berlin? , Billion Dollar Brain? .... 60s films with Harry Palmer ( played by Michael Caine) as the lead character/spy .... both, along with The Ipcress Files, based on books by Len Deighton
And I’m sure there are other Harry Palmer novels.

3rd series of Hidden on BBC4. All 3 series and their episodes are on the BBC iPlayer. Well worth a watch (from series 1 if you haven't seen any) as the storylines are excellent as is the acting.

I'll give it a go as I enjoyed Hinterland. Cheers.
