General New Stadium Plans - Stratfield Brake

How many times? The Board will not buy the Kassam, they have no interest in doing so. If they don't get SB, they will be off to a new club and CC who would like a massive investment.
I know they won’t buy the Kassam I was chatting with someone else when they mentioned plan B and this was possibly what plan B might have been. But if they don’t get SB then I fear we could end up in the s**t financially and possibly going to the wall

What was incorrect with Mr Hill's statement?

I'd like to email my local councillor and ask them to disregard and strike from the record his statement but I'm struggling to articulate it. So far I have the following rough notes:

1 - Experience and competence of those involved: Thohir at DC United built a stadium, government minister for State owned enterprises in Indonesia, International Olympic committee member. Ex owner of Inter Milan, DC United and various other teams in multiple sports.

Bakrie: Google shows his education and career which I'll put in. MBA from Stanford.

Tiger, encumbent Owner who's injected millions, prior experience at Reading.

Funding: Potential stadium will be owned by PropCo owned by the board and wedded to the club who will pay a peppercorn rent as confirmed this week. Net worth of Thohir individually is estimated at $157million USD and family wealth of $2.6 billion USD.

Bakrie individual net worth $1.5billion USD.

On ground sharing, that's a last resort for any club when in severe financial difficulties. I'm sure OCC do not wish to lose a asset which means so much to so many to another county. Not a viable option.

I'll put that into full sentences when I email but are there any other inaccuracies I can call out?

If they are willing to spend £150 million on Stratfield Brake then they could do the same with the Kassam surely. Obviously we all want Stratfield Brake but other then the land cost and the infrastructure around then both could be beneficial to the investors. They must have a plan b then just up and leave if it doesn't go their way.
Absolutely no chance will they buy the Kassam.
Spend £150m on a world class stadium, conference centre, Hotel ( decent I assume) Ice Skaing Rink.
Or waste lots of money on a 75% run down stadium with old low level facilities?
If this doesnt go through the owners will be off

It seems shocking to me that a first step was allowed to have a person speak without being challenged on any of his points which were basically anti Oxford United rather than facts which you will expect .
To even mention ground sharing was incredulous at this meeting as that was not the point of it.
Totally agree.
The most surprising thing was that ill informed questions/ comments were not challenged.

I know this is seperate to the points raised by John Hill, but I'm going to also make the point about how the future of the club hinges on this decision and it's a once in a lifetime opportunity for a club that has served its community admirably, especially in tough times over the last couple of years. Just look at what it did with delivering masks, charities and schools.

Oxfordshire needs international class sporting facilities and of this doesn't go through we will lose that opportunity.

Challenged by who though, we didn't have a representative in the meeting. Hopefully oufc board send a few more details in about how much money they have and how it will benefit the existing sports clubs. Will also help if the takeover completes before the next meeting too as that will be in the public eye.

We’ll have to wait for the minutes to be typed up. The agenda is there but the decisions and minutes are still to be done.

Keep an eye on the link above for those.

And that they carried so much weight that they lead to the council bottling it? I struggle to believe that from what Im understanding he said. Isnt it more likely that it was always going to be deferred today regardless of what was said.

The club statement coming out so soon after suggested it was likely.

Yeah I mean I thought it was going to be a debate, but a decision had clearly already been made.

I think the one thing we’ve got missing at the club is a real good front man PR’ing all the good stuff that’s going to come out of this project for the local community. Tiger is just not visible, same as will the new owners be I guess.
Karl does his best but it’s not in his job description.
We need a bit of an antidote to Mr Hill and I’m not sure who’s going to provide it. Press release style club statements don’t really cut it in local press, TV etc, etc.
MK Dons had Winkleman do this on their project and trust me he was everywhere and all over it!
