Ex Player Ryan Ledson

Believe Robinson's used a rather large amount of smoke and mirrors with his comments after the Blackburn game. Lego has had a long standing knee issue all be it a minor one which was due to be sorted once the summer has started. I had heard that he travelled for a medical at Preston on Thursday and that their staff saw the issue as being a bigger one and therefore would not sign the medical off.

As for what happens now - who knows. There are other clubs who would be willing to make an offer but news does travel fast in football.

Spoke to someone close to the PNE hierarchy about this on Friday, you can believe me or not it’s up to you but I know it’s correct and the rumours surfacing on our forum suggest it’s starting to leak now.

Robinson, with respect, is talking utter nonsense, hence the bumbling response on the radio after your game, when he clearly did not know what to say.

The Ledson deal was agreed financially during the middle of last week, hence why all the press reports then surfaced and your manager said he probably wouldn’t play at the weekend.

He travelled up for talks and a medical later in the week. However, a knee issue which needs correcting sooner rather than later then appeared on the medical, which will require surgery and a spell on the sidelines.

This has led to PNE, regretfully, pulling out of the deal, having chased him for yonks and planned on having him in our squad for next season for 6 months. The lad himself was devastated as well, having waited for the move only for this to f**k it up, hence why he may not have looked fully on it when he came on on Saturday if what a couple of you have said on here is correct.

Like the other PNE fan has said, it’s a no-win situation really.

All entirely plausible...

...right up until the part where he played on Saturday.

A player with no symptoms in a knee doesn't play before and after a medical at Preston, if that medical reveals a problem.

A player who complains of symptoms in a knee gets investigated by his home club, then rested / treated by his home club if he's a saleable asset.

A player who's "devastated not to be going to Preston" doesn't play on a surgical knee and risk making it worse and threatening said move.

Smacks of Preston not offering a good enough deal then attempting to save face to me.

Well this saga has more twists and turns than a....a twisty turny thing.
If he stays then great: we have a potentially awesome midfield next season, if he ends up going (to whoever) it needs to be done asap so KR can sort out his replacement and use the transfer dosh. So here is hoping KR is given a yay or nay soon (and so we can get back to speculation around much needed strikers!)

Not sure what sort of underlying knee injury could still have let him make 50 appearances this season. And hes hardly the type to not run or shy out of tackles is he. Also if it was identified as a serious enough issue not to sign him, would oxford then risk him 1 day later for 20 mins in a game that meant nothing ?

It is a real shame for the lad. H deserves the move.
When I was 20 I didn't think about moving away from my friends in Oxford. But come 30 the chance of a top job in Holland tempted me away. My only regret is missing the best years of the Yellows in the 80s.

But I fully understand his desire to go back up north. Shame, he deserves to get a better position on the ladder.

Just hope that his knee can be fixed asap and that he plays at least 1/2 a season for us. Maybe by then we will be in the championship and he'll be happier to stay with us.

FWIW, he appeared extremely happy with his team mates and KR, at the awards dinner.

Whilst I agree with you regards to him playing, maybe he wanted to show Preston that he is still fit to play. That said, if it shows on the medical that he has a knee problem, Preston are right imo to withdraw from the deal. It’s a lot of money to pay for a player that could miss the next year through injury. What a lot of fans haven’t grasped yet is that your most saleable asset is no longer that until the injury problem is rectified and by the time that is done he may be close to the end of his contract. I hope things work out for the lad.

I know several will still think Ledson has turned Preston down and the PNE fans are venting their frustration but that’s not the case. In my case, it was just letting you know what we have found out from our end. Who knows, it may not be true but I think most people will soon realise that these posts have been made for your own interests.

Personally I don’t know how good Ledson is but our Manager made him our no1 target, so that’s good enough for me, but I’m in the camp of what you’ve never had, you’ll never miss.

Good luck

Ha.

I love how sanctimonious many PNE guests often are on here. Telling us these ‘facts’ as they clearly know so, so much more than us.

Posts made by insecure children or slightly odd adults with too much time on their hands, I fear.

Get a hobby fellas, and see a bit of this sunshine we’re getting!

What u haven’t grasped is he isn’t our most sellable asset. And if he did have to stay to get it fixed, he’s the type of player that would sign a new deal and cost u a lot more next summer [emoji6]

Anyway deals off so u may all return to ur own forum

To be fair they sound like they are going places. Young progressive manager. Young hungry team.
At best they might get to the premier league for a season then come straight back down again, pretty much like 20 other teams in the championship.

Robinson wouldn't have included him in the squad if there was a known issue on Saturday. Irrespective of whether he's going or staying, it's not worth the risk in a dead rubber. Even the ITKs may not/never know the truth on this one. Even if official statements are released I suspect they'll spin differently.
