I haven’t misquoted, you have confirmed what he said
OK he hoped by the end of the transfer window but by definition if it wasn’t then it soon would be
Are you really saying the Board don’t tell us anything because we will misquote it?
What a load of baloney

The end of the transfer window was a few months ago was it it first week in September ? And the initial takeover was March. (2021).

So it’s taking a lot longer than expected.

Meantime Oxvox are telling us they will make representations on a potential stadium design. Despite still not getting answers on who owns the club some 3 years on.

I'll ask you the same question as I've asked others.

How long were you expecting?

Sunderland took from June 2020 to middle of February 2021. Newcastle took a year.

Just saw Jack Stevens in my local Tesco. I asked him if he was ready for the takeover. He looked slightly awkward and asked me what I meant. I repeated my question and then followed it up with, “of your pants, by me!” He walked away from me with his trolley. 60 seconds later security dragged me out of there before I could even pay for my chuck and brisket burgers.

It’s all going swimmingly.

Newcastles was a lot more different in who the owners were going to be but at the end it was rushed through much to the dismay of other premier league clubs.
But you would have thought the owners we have now with their inexperience ie Erik and how his ownership of inter Milan would have been a very high mitigating factor in being passed fit and proper to be named our owner.

Not looking to pick a fight but is that entirely accurate? They actually pulled the plug on the deal themselves about a year ago over fears that they would fail the fit and proper owners tests.

It does appear that the deal is taking longer than anticipated. Nobody on here really knows why. It could be the EFL or it could even be the consortium holding up an announcement. I take comfort from the fact that Bakrie seems pretty calm about it all and, I would assume, not be so forthright with his plans if he wasn’t confident all was fine.

For a relatively simple takeover for OUFC subject to politically exposed persons I didn’t think it should take so long. Perhaps if we’d been promoted then the price would change. But we weren’t. So what’s holding it up ? Whether the new owners can get a land deal?

As for Sunderland - again the promotion issue probably weighed heavily. Pay up for a Championship club , but to buy a league one club , the premium goes down.

Newcastle is a special case with the new owners.

But what does this have to do with the EFL approving it?

But this is entirely subjective. You don't know how long a takeover should take but are making the assumption that this is taking longer than normal, and others are then going further by saying that something must be wrong to explain this.

Under "normal" takeovers there is either someone wanting to sell (DE or SD at Sunderland) who no longer wants to fund their train set. Or you have a buyer who wants to get involved as quickly as possible. Both scenarios would mean that it's in their interests to get the deal done quickly.

Ours is very different. The key players were already involved and will remain involved. No one is desperate to sell, and those looking to take greater control can do so informally without EFL ratification etc. So there hasn't been the rush that others have had, and any deal is more an indication of a smooth transition rather than proof that something has gone wrong.

Bakrie speaking at the beginning of the season was clear indication that he was at the helm, and was certainly authorising transfer spends. His position was reinforced with his recent interview where he was openly introduced as the new owner of Oxford United. Do you think this would be so openly presented if there was any hold ups or questions about land deals etc?

“those looking to take greater control can do so informally without EFL ratification etc”

Can they? @Scotchegg

Of course they can in decision making etc.

Shares and overall ownership is part of the EFL process, but not who approves our transfer policy etc.

Well I don’t know. And whenever I don’t know I try and say it is an educated guess.

If we’re still going to have ‘Tiger Talks’ (c/o Chris ‘Pravda’ Williams ) at the front of the next few programmes it’s going to start looking a bit odd, no?

Ok
Let’s look at this from a different angle
How long did it take for the EFL to look into Tiger and the original board when they took over from Eales
I can’t remember anything holding up that when Eales decided to go with them.
It certainly didn’t take a year or anything like that.
Care to explain that one away

Boring discussion. It takes as longs as it takes, and WE can do nothing about it. Stop arguing.
You mean to tell me that Bakrie and co aren't refreshing the forum every 10 minutes to see what's going on here?

'Right lads we need to get a move on with takeover. The thread on the forum is on page 162 and bazzer9461 and Scotchegg are arguing over semantics again!'

World money likes Oxford (University).

Liz Trust to embark on a South East Asian trade tour this week.

Coincidence ?

Will be interesting to see if the donor is a direct beneficiary from any trade deal and if thats the case it
might not be too long before we have any news re the stadium, as for the takeover i kinda see them as
a group and not just Bakrie so in that regards i`m not fussed about how long things are taking.

Tiger and co were in discussions with Eales from June 2017 with the takeover approved at the end of February 2018.

But as @Malc says, this never ending circular discussions are boring so I'll sit out until all is done.

I`m somewhat gobsmacked that people think the EFL will be working quickly and efficiently on such things. 🤷‍♀️

It's probably a linked chain of events where the owners send "A" to the EFL, they examine it and ask for "B", the owners send B and so on.....

It would just be nice for us to be kept in the loop a tiny little bit, even if it's just someone saying "All going smoothly, blah de blah....."
