Away Match Day Thread 02/10/2021 L1: Sheffield Wednesday v OUFC

That's a fair question. I don't know but flu doesn't usually have the impact that covids had/having on everything.
I’ve known players to miss games due to having the flu though.

What happens if a player goes on jetski / plays tennis / goes ice skating and gets injured and misses games? Genuine question, do they get fined? Obviously some things are purely unforeseen accidents but you could argue that professional sportsmen shouldn’t be putting themselves at risk of injury through some things.

Bit disappointed some of our players aren't vaccinated. But there's a football match to be played and 3 points to win. COYY

its different, there is a Covid pandemic not a flu one, and a national campaign to get everyone vaccinated. They shouldn’t be doing jet skiing or anything else dangerous either

Being vaccinated, wearing a mask in enclosed spaces... It's not about protecting ourselves, it's about caring for, and protecting others. It's about demonstrating a team ethos.

Young, professional footballers have a very low chance of becoming seriously ill as a result of catching Covid. But, they should all be vaccinated to protect the vulnerable in our society.

It's disappointing that some have chosen not to protect the vulnerable members of our community.

I believe that Stevie K discussed this on Tuesday. I'm sure he said something about extreme sports being banned in player contracts. Might be wwrong, that was 4 days ago and my memory lasts a few hours most days...

It’s not different in this context if a player misses a game by having flu, after a vaccine was available but not taken up - it would be unfair to not fine them, but fine someone in this scenario with Covid.

Great from the Sheffield Wednesday fans and they’re singing in memory of Jose Semedo’s wife
