General Consortium Takeover - News and Rumours

So as I thought something seems afoot!

Would love to hear the thoughts of Scotchegg, MC Yellow and Colin.

Are you guys still happy that things are good?

I'm not sure that anything is drastically wrong with regard to the takeover deal, but clearly it is taking longer to go through than I first thought. The covid situation in the far east may have had a greater baring than expected, but I don't know if that is the reason for the delay. As I've said before, the "big week of annoucements" ended as an absolute disaster and even I will accept that the PR from the club has been poor this summer.

I give plenty out when "right" and clearly got this massively wrong (and generally got less abuse than I was expecting!!)

However, I'm 100% certain that the takeover will go through and expect greater clarity from the board when it does. I still think that Tiger will play a role, and I'm personally happy with that. He cares a lot more than many expected, and generally he has been good for the club. His presence has been missed around the club, and unless Erick or others are expecting to be in the UK all the time (post covid), then I'd like to see Tiger still involved in some capacity. But as to the actual look of the new board, I have no idea.

As for the stadium, nothing has changed as far as I'm aware. I didn't expect any formal annoucement on the stadium at the time the takeover was expected, but I would expect it soon (before the end of the year) with a timeframe of completion ahead of the 2026/27 season at the latest. @Colin B may have a different view, but nothing I have heard suggests that there have been any changes to this happening, or the timeframes agreed.

Finally, I honestly don't think there is any concerns about Jack Stevens going or any further sales of key players. As mentioned elesewhere, I think Robinson's frustrations are more to do with players not coming in and some of the stupid wage demands that are coming. In all leagues there is a certain pecking order and you expect some teams to pay beyond the level that we would be willing to go. But some of the clubs are offering stupid wages which we are unwilling to match. Whether it was Sullay Kaikai or someone else, we were clearly close to bringing someone in before a higher bid derailed our chances and left Robinson pissed! I don't think this will stop us getting a decent left back and centre back, and would hope both are in this week. But this is the time of year when you have to decide when to go all in, and when to fold and hope for a better hand next time around.

So in answer to your question, I think things are good-ish. Communication and some key decisions around the club have been handled badly, and we should have learnt from previous mistakes. However, I don't think we are far away from recovering some of this ground. A couple of really positive signings, the formal announcement of the takeover and clear plans for the future, something, anything to back up the stadium situation, a different and exciting 2nd/3rd kit, and a really positive winning start to the season and everything suddenly looks much better.

Here's hoping!

I would add to your statement regarding Tiger I hope he would be asked to stay on as chairman and yes he does care about our club.

Problem much more likely to be at this end. Caught between OCC and OGB by the sounds of it. No stadium, no takeover.

Those Stevens comments may come back to bite you. Hearing today he may be off.

Robinson is doing what Robinson does best, saying something to get a reaction, and covering his own backside.
The world has changed in the last 18 months.
As we let in crowds and hopefully take advantage of our rollout.
Let’s not forget others are still dealing with this pandemic.

I've said before the players have the power at any level Kane at Spurs . What hope have we got, there are alot of players out there who would love to play for us. It will be nice when one of the ones we sell we get the next pay out when they're sold again. Iam still confident we will be up there again. Come on you yellows!

Probably just reading comments on here
Well yeah a rhetorical question.. potential disappointment aside though , a professional organisation should be able to keep major business deals secret. I guess the other club, if there’s one, would be less concerned about secrecy

He signed a 3 year extension in February meaning he is under contract until summer 2024, so I would have thought it would take an incredible offer for us to even consider it.

I have also heard possible Middlesbrough, but I am not in the know at all. Would rather pass on something heard as it is in tandem with previous post. It was why he wasn't risked on Friday.

In the space left by the lack of transfer activity and takeover movements, conjecture, rumour and wild speculation based on hunches and half baked theories run riot.

Let’s all chill about it. The weather is going to be belting tomorrow. Go out and enjoy it.

Appreciate your response/thoughts, but I think Karl’s frustrations seem to be linked to the club/owners etc rather than missing out on certain players.

It could be that they (club/owners) were not willing to pay a certain fee/wage, but add in the comment about losing players (Atkinson, possibly Stevens) for good money which appears we’re not willing to reinvest has got to him, especially when we make statements about wanting to be a top 30 club!

Personally I don’t feel things are rosy, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

If someone has come in with a pile of wedge for a player we are selling............ its how it works. They all have a price whatever KR or us think.
They are just saleable assetts. Bit like someone knocking on the door and offering £25k for the car on the drive that is worth £5k.
You sell it.

Market forces................ bit like City charging £14 for a ticket. ;)
