Transfer News Transfer window 2020/21

Slightly revision of history going on there. No one felt Dickie was one of the best CB’s in L1 whilst he was playing alongside Nelson. It wasn’t until Nelson moved on that Dickie shifted to the right and really kicked on
I disagree, we always knew what talent he had, and he displayed this whilst still playing alongside Nelson. He used to make the odd mistake, but you could see his talent. Talent doesn't just appear out of thin air. It's black and white. It's clear we need an experienced CB for both Moore and Atkinson to learn from. A few years back that would have been Mous. Remember a few weeks back there was talk of Mous not even being named as a player in the squad, now kr sees him as a main player. It doesn't add up.
At most other clubs Atkinson would be seen as learning his trade, months out of non league football, one for the future, back up to the main CB's. kr is holding him up as a main player in the first 11, which is unfair on the lad. The pressure he must be feeling, which may be counter productive to his development.

I believe kr isn't as naïve to not see the issues here, and the huge problems potentially we could find ourselves in. What's worrying is other teams have gone about their business, without using squad size/budget as a barrier to assembling a decent team. Teams we have played so far, Crewe tomorrow, Lincoln, Gillingham. This should be a season of building on last season's successes, mid table seems to be more likely at the moment, with the current crop of players.
Lets hope the additions brought in will make a difference in the areas where they are needed, and not simply premiership starlet' cosmetics.

Haha are we? You know full well there are certain members of this forum that gloat as soon as anything remotely negative happens at the club.
Gloat, really? "Honestly assess" is fairer. Weve lost 3 out of four. I wish i could say i think we are in a false position, but it would be a lie. We've dropped a major bollock with this summers recruitment and at the moment its looking like a long season ahead.

Ive watched a lot of football in my years, some bloody awful Oxford Teams and this is a very bad football team (for the level we are at).

Hopefully Robbos brill signings this week will get us back on track and give us som much needed cheer.

Another pathetic troll post.

Kip, you complain about pretty much everything there is to complain about. I know you enjoy the role you play on here and yes, at times, you make some valid points but more often than not, they are awash with cynicism and negativity.

"And this is a very bad football team"

See...

Is it really though? I watched the game on Saturday and despite a few moments that cost us dear, I thought we were actually very good.

I'll await your post on Friday, when you will no doubt pop up again to criticise the club for any 'underwhelming' signing that we make or better yet, when we sign no one at all.

Spiffing. Can't wait to see the usual suspects out in force, getting all smug over this.

Gloat or simply give an opinion you don't like? It's what a forum is all about isn't it?

If someone disagrees with you, that you see a 3-1 defeat and us playing well as acceptable so be it. But when it's the other way around and someone sees our recruitment as having failed this summer you have a go at them. All opinions are valid, if you disagree then be constructive, rather than personal.

I'm all for opinions; I have plenty of those, myself. However, I'm sure you know that's not what I'm talking about.

I also fail to see how ive been 'personal' with anyone?

I'm happy to take stick, as well as give it. I'm not going to lose sleep over what people say to me on a fans forum. Its really not that deep..

I'm sorry, I don't. I'm not talking about you here, but there are some posters who, because someone is critical of the club either get personal or call them Swindon fans/you're not a real Oxford fans. They act like they have just come off the school playground.

If any signings made later this week are underwhelming in someone's opinion or totally not what we needed, they should feel free to say what they think, as does a person who may well be ecstatic about the signings.

Matrons telling me to turn off my tablet, time to go....

The timing, the sense that the poster has been waiting all match for the oppo to score before releasing the pessimistic opinion, the feeling that the negative observations are being offered as some sort of amazing insight that we're not all perfectly aware of already, the sudden disappearances from the forum on the rare occasions when we're actually successful...it's all very, very odd, it DOES appear smug and it's absolutely 'gloating'. Such a shame when the opinion is invariably valuable, yet volunteered with such a stiffie that we've just lost 3-1. Why would anyone rather be proven right on an anonymous forum than rejoice that we've just enjoyed our one good season in ten...?

The sadness being that we're all supposedly fans of the same club, which has mostly done it tough over the years so these disappointments shouldn't come as any surprise! Why is anyone amazed that Oxford screwed up last season? Of course we did!

Yet, I still follow football, and OUFC in particular, because it makes me happy to be alive and there's nothing else I would rather be doing.

I cannot for the life of me fathom anyone continuing to post here when following Oxford clearly, genuinely makes them so miserable.

You’re not meant to enjoy it! It’s character building

Well said

Sounds like it's going to be a right winger with Ageyi considered an option on the left. Wonder if Whyte could come back.
That would be a lot of pace up top just what we need and a few goals aswel with Whyte Taylor/winnall agyei if only we’d get a experienced CB then I think we’d get promoted this season (if it finishes)
