Transfer News Transfer window 2020/21

Don't forget our financial windfall at the end of January, when very few other teams (if any?) were cashing in on their valuable talent. It's probably set us up pretty comfortably for the foreseeable. Doubt DMac would have been so upset about finishing the season if he'd just pocketed 10m for Toney.

Doubt whether they will get 10 million now although the Peterborough local rag said they think with this pandemic that the posh have lost out on 25 million ?

Read on twitter from "EFL Hub" No clue on the reliability. That we're after centre back Max Ehmer from Gills. Can't say he particularly stood out in the home game against us.

1,400 has been repeatedly quoted by Kieran Maguire (Price of Football) in case anyone was wondering where that figure came from.
I've heard that number as well, but when you think there are around 100 Pro clubs, that means they all are releasing 14 players, which sounds a bit excessive.

Well, if we have any money, that is. I'm not sure we'll be stronger financially than our rivals, although Tiger has been making reassuring noises.

We are already in a much healthier position than many clubs in league one. Wycombe for example have been unable to extend loan contracts and have said that many backroom staff will not have a job at the end of the furlough period. Sunderland have a huge wage budget and will see a significant drop in season ticket revenue. Peterborough usually supplement their transfer activity on the back of selling players at the top of their market value, but they will struggle to get anywhere near that now. And then there are teams like Burton that have stated publically, and many that haven't, that will be at huge risk of not existing in any competitive capacity.

You may not believe it, but the board have committed long-term to the sustainability and development of the club. I think that we will come out of this much stronger as a league one club, and one that could compete in the Championship. Time will tell of course, but the noises I hear are not only reassuringly but extremely positive.

Boro apparently want Browne back, shame but understandable:
And there was I thinking that he fell out and they were looking to offload him with someone somewhere saying that there was a 450k price tag, I must have been asleep dreaming.

You have to remember that clubs will be looking to trim squads and 'Boro will have players out of contract that won't be replaced. Marcus Browne was out of favour in the winter but is now a fairly cheap option, and one that can have a huge impact if motivated.

No official confirmation yet but he's looking forward to the play-offs

If we can get Liam Kelly permanently then it may be the perfect time. He has just had the spell where it hasn't gone right for him and he appears to have a hunger to succeed from what his interviews and how he has worked to get himself fit.

As an aside, it doesn't say a lot for Feyenoord's fitness coaches/sports scientists how much work the club had to do with him to help him to get fit.

Or about him - was he sitting at home eating and sulking for six months?

Or was he depressed/lonely being in a new country and turned to food as a comfort? I don't know one way or another but if he was then that still doesn't reflect well on the club (management, fitness staff etc) for not recognising if there is a problem and letting it get to that stage.

Yeah, I agree the club had a duty of care

Peterborough turn down a £4m plus add-ons bid from New York Red Bulls for Ivan Toney.

I can't imagine that Toney would be that excited about going to play in the footballing backwater that is the US anyway, but that may be the best offer Peterborough get in the current circumstances.

Tell that to Chris Cadden. :)
