International News Covid-19 .....

Annoys the hell out of me, as from a poor traditionally labour only voting area, I have voted for all the main 3 parties in general elections in respect of who I believed at the time was right for my situation, this tribalism that your party is the right one and anything else is wrong is nonsense.

Couldn’t agree more.

The situation is terrible but YT is most definitely politicising it by the very fact his posts show no balance.

It's the first time to my knowledge during a Pandemic which has already caused over 50000 deaths- more than died in the Blitz say- and when they've been lying about breaking the sanctions they have imposed and hounded others who broke them.

But I'm sure you. and the rest of the Kool Aid Gang will remain relaxed about it, because it doesn't make the front page of the Daily Telegraph.

Would you like a Cummings Quarter Pounder to go?
You’re making assumptions about my political leanings and the newspaper I read....I
I have little time for Cummings, and I am not defending him, but from various reports he was either acting in the best interests of his child or flagrantly breaching the rules. People wilI make their own minds up, as is patently obvious today. I don’t intend arguing what he didn’t or didn’t do, that’s not my point.
My point was the disproportionate time spent by the two papers pursuing this negative story to suit their readership when virus related issues of broader national interest and significance were playing out.

By the way that goes for all parties, politicians in my mind you should vote for who will do the best for your area and not for the colour of the rosette they are wearing!

To be fair, I found a report earlier about a labour MP who attended a funeral with 100 other mourners during lock down, which is against guidelines.

For some reason YT didn’t post this article up for comment? A situation that had 100 mourners together and potentially spreading this deadly virus.

Given the depth of what he has posted on here and the strength of his feelings, I find that incredible that he choose to ignore this.

Unfortunately, his stance on here is clearly one dimensional and whilst others do show balance, I am afraid he is most definitely politicising this situation. I believe one of his early comments said this wouldn’t have happened under Labour.

I am sorry but TY has no credibility, he is exploiting this terrible situation and I find that very sad.
Assuming this is reported accurately (and I have no reason to believe it isn't) he should have resigned immediately. What is it with these people?

Absolutely anybody in any position of public authority or responsibility should know better, and should rightly be criticised for their failings. Doesn’t matter who it is or what party they represent, if indeed they’re a politician at all. They should lead by example and do what they insist the rest of us do. I don’t think anyone should be able to argue the toss on that front.

But when you are the ones in power, and you are the ones making the rules, the buck does stop with you more than anyone else. And I simply can’t for the life of me understand why or how we got to the point as a society that the ability to criticise somebody for doing wrong, now has to be justified. A crime is a crime, a rule break is a rule break, a lie is a lie. We don’t seem to believe that anymore, though. Now you have to pass a series of tests that determine whether or not you’re allowed to point at a fire and go, “That is a fire.”

I find it depressing, but I also find it incredibly damaging. It worries me that some of the world’s most infamous scandals would be brushed under the carpet if they occurred today. In fact, I fear that they already are being.

And none of that has got a thing to do with a rosette. Nor should it. Yet here we are.

Cummings has to walk.
But he won’t, and the people who run the country are protecting him while they made scientists resign for arguably less. And they’re the ones who might actually offer something of value.

This is why I’m concerned. Because if you look at the situation on paper and strip it of any name or political party, it’s indefensible. Yet the most powerful people in the country are rallying around and lying, and trying to blame ordinary people for daring to notice.

Whitsun break, by the time parliament is back the froth will be flat and the news yesterdays chip paper.

We have seen a consistent reduction in admissions, ventilated bed occupancy and subsequent deaths.
The number of admitted and discharged patients is well in excess of 700 across our sites.

Nice to see neither side covering themselves with glory in god awful shouting match on the BBC after the press conference.

On the brightside the re-opening of the Ivanhoe Line and others will please Greta. :)

If ‘A crime is a crime, a rule break is a rule break, a lie is a lie’ was as clear cut as that in every circumstance I’d agree with you, but add in defences and exceptions and open people’s minds to the wealth of relevant information that is available to us nowadays, that’s where the uncertainty and doubt stems from that feeds these sometimes unnecessary debates
In years gone by that wealth of information and subsequent varied opinion didn’t exist.
The World Wide Web has both empowered and weakened us.

Still so much denial and pant wetting going on. Fortunately I don’t engage with people incapable of critical thinking any more than Boris Johnson engages with the public in times of crisis. Where is he, by the way? Shouldn’t he be fronting up personally for what his mate and main advisor has been caught doing?

Ah, yes. HOLIBOBS!
