+++ 25/01/20 Newcastle United v OUFC FAC +++

One of the signs of a dive (which refs don’t seem to understand) is when both feet are planted together as they go down? Anyone knows that when running your feet are never that close together.
As for the running at pace excuse someone is using, he wasn’t even doing that tbh.

The other tale tell sign is if the player turns around, edges backwards and goes on tip toe before launching themselves.

as an aside to yesterdays away result and performance.... the kit? who decided on the yellow with blue trim 'home' shirt, with white shorts and socks? its not the best combination! ( basically a 'Home' kit shirt with away kit socks and shorts)

why not wear Yellow sock and shorts, the 'home'- yellow with blue trim- shirt really doesnt look right with white socks and shorts, IMO

can understand why the team didnt wear navy blue shorts , 'clash' with Newcastle's black shorts, all yellow , which has been worn several times this season already ( If memory serves), wouldve looked a lot better, I think
I thought you were colour blind?

Amazing, in my playing days I never felt the need to "anticipate and fall over". It is a dive, pure and simple.
It's called avoiding an injury it's a pretty natural thing to do. I've heard plenty of pundits discuss it. There is of course a fine line between that and diving though, there was not enough there to say dive in my view. His reaction straight on his feet, no appealing and straight after the ball isn't the sign of someone diving in my view. The highlights on BBC don't show the best replay of it.

Amazingly I was able to avoid injury as well just like my teammates without "anticipate and fall over", it is diving. Injuries are as common now as they were then and I saw more injuries caused by bad pitches than by challenges.

I have lost my ticket stub, but still have the programme. Does that count?
Not really you may have turned up without a ticket looking for a tout who might have sold you a ticket for £25 but you didn’t so you bought a programme from a seller. ???

Lucky for you you were able to avoid injury and your team mates, I broke my ankle after a terrible tackle. I've also seen a number of injuries caused by challenges. You did well to avoid injuries and never see a team mate injured by one. I've got no idea if injuries are more common now or then, I will take your word for it.

Sorry that you got a broken ankle from a tackle but that still doesn't change the point.

I saw players injured by challenges but saw more from poor pitches as previously explained. This includes a few seasons playing in the then very physical Lord Jersey FA League along with the Witney & District and Oxford Sunday League so plenty of games. And I bet there was no more injuries from challenges then than there is now.

I think he realized as he went down his obvious and bad a dive it was and hence got up quickly without appealing. He was looking for it as it wasn’t like a tough tackle or one where the player was steaming in and you’d be worried about getting hurt.

I say that as a striker who has been taken out plenty of times and also “won” many penalties

I've got no idea if there is more injuries now or then from challenges and from your reply neither do you. it's not that relevent to my point anyway. In regards to falling over when avoiding contact, it would depend on how un balanced a player is at the time of the incident. I'm telling you I have lost my footing while avoiding a perceived tackle with no contact taking place. I've never dived to win a penalty. In any case, the main bit of my reply in regard to the player in questions reaction not being that of someone diving is the only bit you didn't respond too. Will have to agree to disagree on this.

It does show Ruffles pulling his foot back which shows he didn’t go over be side of Ruffels

Maybe or maybe he didn't dive. I honestly don't think there was enough there to say dive for me.
