General More news re; stadium/training ground, thoughts?

I think everyone knows that Scotchegg is the club's designated cheerleader on here. Of course, he can only regurgitate what he's been fed - and quite honestly I hope every word he says is true and correct (I am getting my pitchfork sharpened and my pitch soaked torch ready in case it turn out not to be so ;) ).

BUT quite obviously whatever might or might not be happening with a new stadium (or purchasing the current place) we aren't going to get any business plans leaked on here. Ever, whether they exist in relation to a new venue or not. And quite rightly so - doing so would jeopardise anything that might be developing. Does ANY business publish it's detailed plans for future developments?

As it is, we DO now have a secure, professional community-orientated training ground - so that is already a better return than any of the other recent regimes have managed. I for one will contain my impatience and wait to see what develops - after all we will know '100%' by the end of the season...
Correct the only people who know the investors intentions are the investors themselves, A new ground will depend on the deal and return to them if it’s to happens.
To much said with no substance and picking up on a few PR words to justify their claims.

May be best to park this thread for a bit now and wait to see what happens..?

I hope so! You two are behaving like kids.
I'm surprised a moderator wants to stifle debate, this place is hardly alive at the moment.
May be posters won't express their opinions on here in case they get shouted down by the cheerleader/s, just saying for a friend.

There is more chance of "us" buying the whole shooting range (Ground,Hotels, Leisure) than moving to a new ground before we are looking at renegotiating the tenancy arrangement.

It's cause there's not much to moan about at the moment! Posts increase on here when there's a chance to moan.

We are playing as well as ever , whoever comes into the side fit in seamlessly . If we can keep this up then what a hell of a season ...and Tiger/Robbo doing quite amazingly well.

From the Potential New Ground thread:

"I don’t get many (or any) insider tips, but I hear from a good source that we have an agreement with Cherwell Council on land up at Kidlington. Room for a 22k’er. Sssshhhhh!"

Maybe it's the land straight accross from sainsbury's (Not where the rugby is) the land between the a34 and Bicester road. Would be a decent location only have to walk over the a34 and your at the park way and park and ride.

Interesting times.

Dammit, that was supposed to be a secret for those of us in the right subforum...this thread is the one for the Rabble brothers to play.

It is a 'wait and see' situation re the ground, not much else those of us not as well connected as Scotchegg can do!!

There was what I thought was an interesting tweet from Oxvox on 14th November..feel free to screenshot and add if you are more technically capable than me but it was in response to an ox City Council tweet about the club getting the lease on the training ground. Oxvox's tweet in reply to Ox City Council was:-

'Imagine how good things good be if you helped us with a community / club owned stadium solution? How about helping with that now?'

With quite a few positive noises coming out of the club in terms of partnership / working relationship with Ox City Council I thought it was a strange tweet. The last thing we want is to end up with a new ground but in a Kassam type situation with another party.

A look at the bigger picture here lends credence to a positive outcome. The club is now responsible for running a community project for the next 23 years. OUFC in the community, the clubs own charitable organisation, has recruited local councillors and is making itself very well known through local schools and other community set ups. The players are often getting involved and a general visibility of the club is being encouraged.
The concept of making OUFC part of Oxford and Oxfordshire has been expressed so many times by both board members and club staff.

A new stadium within the city boundaries will 100% require cooperation from local authorities and therefore what better way of garnering that help than by putting the club forward as a partner to the community? The stadium would be multi purpose and encompass facilities available to the community, in much the same way as the training ground is multi purpose and available to the community.

Granted, a land deal encompassing retail, hotel, office and housing development is going to make a very tidy profit when built on land within the city so, a healthy return for the money men and one they would probably not get without the club but, if all is done as has been promised by the club, all's fine and dandy by me.

Agree. From what is being said, that seems quite a logical explanation of what could be going on.
A community stadium owned by the club/ council and used for community purposes as well as for oufc and the surrounding area developed by the investors which is where they make their money.
Fingers crossed.

Yep agreed.

Guess I was wondering why that Tweet was sent as there appears healthy collaboration at the moment between the 2.

My impression in the last year or so that there has been a deliberate emphasis on ‘Oxfordshire’ whenever the board and management talk about promoting the club. They often say things like ‘we need the people of Oxfordshire to get behind and support the club’ It’s not just about the city any more.

Nothing wrong with that at all, most of us would agree with that we need to attract fans from all over the county. It just feels to me that the whole ‘county of Oxfordshire ‘ thing has gone up a notch or 2.

This could tie in with needing to get get cooperation from councils outside of the city, eg Cherwell, South Oxfordshire. Any part owned community/council stadium/facility is I suspect going to be very much a County of Oxfordshire project, not just the City of Oxford.

How about we build it somewhere and then expand the city boundaries to surround it
