Home Match Day Thread +++ 31/08/2019 L1: OUFC vs Coventry City +++

The amount of goals we are conceding is a massive concern. 10 in the last 3 League games. Massive shame we didn't keep Kashi

Still at least we got something, lady luck will shine on us one day.

Not sure I can take any enjoyment from that. Good to get a point when 0 looked likely, but I'm extremely annoyed with our defending. We can't expect the attackers to score the goals required to win if we ship in 3 every game.

they tend to waste most chances made!

Agree, poor defending cost us 2 of the3 goals conceded today

agree apart from I’m taking major enjoyment from it. Conceding three goals per game is a joke and shows how soft we are. Worrying and exhilarating in equal measure

True, if we put our chances to bed earlier it would've been a different game. But for all our wastefulness we did score 3 goals, which should be enough to win a game.

Nutty stats: 60% possession but 16 shots off target and 13 corners but I guess with 4 shots on target apiece maybe a score draw is right!!??

agree ... definitely IF our defenders actually defend

Has to be said, the attackers only got one of the goals today, an OG and a CB scoring. On the plus side the team is showing tremendous heart and togetherness to keep going right to the end but, as so often the case, we have problems at both ends of the pitch.

Once again the better footballing and more technical side, but lacking the ruthlessness and know how to turn it into a win. As much as it's great to see us fight back from a losing position for the second time in two weeks, I'm really not sure whether or not Robinson will ever build a team to be successful at this level.

Just checked the dodgy throw in decision a couple of times. It's possible that the pass by the Coventry player that went out of play brushed one of ours ( Henry?) on the way out. I'd feel a bit better if it did although we still went AWOL in our own box.

People are already saying KR should have a successful team by now, I think it's still early days and we should give Robinson a bit more time, I feel like this team has potential, it's missing a striker but hopefully we will have a couple fit and firing soon (ish). Remember things haven't been smooth off the pitch since his arrival (which was in itself poorly planned by the powers that be), but now (touch wood) we are more stable and KR can be judged by what's on the pitch: we play good football, we need to be smarter in defense and actually have someone in attack - but I think KR will address this. Remember Sir Alex Ferguson was appointed at man utd in 1986 and by Dec 1990 they were 17th in the league, not saying KR is Sir Alex - just that it takes a while to get going... COYY

Recon the not finishing chances will be sorted by Ageiy (or however you spell his name) and Taylor coming in. Defending really needs looking at, no idea how to fix it, Dickie is a good defender and Moore has shown some bright glimpses, think it might be chance to give Long a run in the team, helped out defensive record last season when he came in, recon he could do the same this season

Edit - also think a pacy winger could help
