Brannagan Gorrin
Whyte Sykes Fosu
New ST

That's how I would line up the midfield and attack. Brannagan as the 8(box to box) Gorrin as the 6(more defensive midfielder) Sykes in the 10 as he has all the qualities you need as a 10. Pace, dribbling, passing etc.

So Cadden, Sinclair and-now grant that’s three that have knocked us back, how many more knock backs do we have to have before we sign our Z list option?

Grant we really don't know and I guess he would have been a squad player for us IF we were after him, Sinclair in top league of Dutch footy and Cadden still not decided but obviously holding out for higher than div 3.

Baz there are 56 teams above us, and plenty lower with bigger budgets. All competing for the same players, if we started at average journeymen as targets we would now have a full squad, and probably be looking at a season of disappointment and failure, ok we have had some knock backs, from players but that’s no different to any other club, we’ve also signed two of our top targets and are still in the running for a 3rd. We are still likely to be in the running for our top loan targets as they won’t move until late in the window. With loads of other clubs not even having made a signing yet I’d say we’re having an ok window so far, and far from looking at z list options. Don’t panic, there is 4 weeks till the window shuts, were in a far better position than we were at this time last year, with a great core already in the building, and a wealth of young talent knocking on the first team door.

Better deal offered for Sinclair, Cadden I wouldn’t bother with and Grant was more hearsay unless there is a serious leak within the club because KR said he wouldn’t repeat last season where he made known his targets

But was it not said with the late additions last season not gelling which was blamed on our very poor start.

So in a straight fight for an Oxfordshire born player, we miss out to Lincoln. I’d love to know what the reason for that is, money? A more persuasive manager? The player didn’t want the pressure of playing for his ‘hometown’ club..?

The article alludes to the fact its nearer his home so i would say he probably did not want to move. And its not just about wages being offered its also the cost of living that people take into consideration. We may be offering more but it doesnt go as far in Oxfordshire compared to notts/lincolnshire.

True about cost of living but you would think if we’re offering more then that would compensate the cost of living. Also they could live Aylesbury/Wycombe way a lot cheaper there

The way I see it is if they did prefer elsewhere thank god for that. We do not need them given the quality we already have in those positions. Now, if it had been Ched Evans going to Lincoln over us I would have been as distraught as a few on here clearly are.

I agree if theirs heart wouldn’t been it at Oxford then go elsewhere, apparently the Cadden deal hasn’t gone away but with his dithering then I would redraw any contract offer.

I too would withdraw the Cadden offer. Been far too long and I am not sure that this one is purely down to money. Think he believes he should be going to a bigger club.

Some yes, but also down to losing the best keeper in the league, nelson, Holmes, caruthers. Sinclair the player u desperately want in early so he gets time to gel, came in jan with no time to gel at all and fitted in instantly, as did kashi

Going on a countywide tour of sub-par training pitches for the first few weeks probably didn't help the squad to gel either.

My personal mental deadline was that we should have at least a workable first team in place for today's match, ready for the PSFs coming up (6 in the next nine days, which seems loopy to me anyway!) so that the players could get used to playing together. Unfortunately (and I am sure not for the want of trying) that hasn't happened. According to ST we have one that is close and two other possibles in the next week. By then (even if that works out) we will be on to the two home friendlies, a 'hello DE' game at Solihull and then into the league. And we still presumably need to sort out some loan players as well? I'm really not sure how they are going to have time to turn themselves into a team (as opposed to a load of individuals) before it becomes important.
