National News The Brexit Thread 🇬🇧🇪🇺

You said twice you were leaving the thread. Have you left the thread?
People Quote replied me, so I felt I should give them a response. I was mistaken about leaving, to dismiss me as a "liar" as a person because of that is a disgusting insult.

I stand outside Parliament all day yelling "STOP BREXIT" with a silly hat on, me. Hardcore.
Before you get on your high horse, I’m not piling on here, but I would point out that you posted a link to a vaguely compiled list - we’re still none the wiser as to what data is being used - and then referred to it as an ‘inconvenient truth’ for remainers, whatever that means. You were fishing for a response and got one.

This is going to be a really hard sell for you because your initial response was to suggest that I wanted to engage in mutual masturbation with people based on their feelings about Brexit.

It is a pile-on, as always with this thread. That post and the subsequent articles I linked on here are proof that things are neither as rosy as an optimistic Brexiteer would think, nor the disaster QR believes.

This thread is simply one opinion, done over and over, I like to interrupt it. Many people on here are bigoted towards people who voted for Brexit and veil it incredibly thinly.

Don’t knock it, I’ve had a lovely evening out at the local church hall.

I should have worded it less crudely, but that is exactly what this thread is, and always has been.

But if you know in advance the response you are going to get, why the indignation?

It amazes me that nobody on here actually wants to debate. Most of you want to engage in doom-mongering, groupthink and a kind of strange smugness that you feel like you're in on some secret the great unwashed Brexiteers don't know about.

Seven years after the vote, and many are still on here with extremely thinly-veiled posts belittling people who voted for Brexit.

Truth is, it's a complex issue. The democratic deficit is a major issue, the EU economies are mostly not outperforming us. Many on here (I believe QR) claim to be socialist and yet support an institution that essentially protects big business. A socialist supporting the EU is something I truly cannot fathom. Just look at Corbyn, he could barely even pretend he wanted to remain after years of complaining about the EU.

There must come a time where acceptance happens. Brexiteers and Remainers both had different visions about the future and what they thought would be best, Brexit won. Some on here seem to want to spend the rest of their life doom-mongering and wallowing, what good does that do?

You're welcome to do it, but it's incredibly frustrating to read, and some of the attitudes held towards people with differing opinions verge on bigoted.

I’m not doom-mongering, I’m pointing out that you said three times in quick succession that you were going to stop doing the thing you’re still doing.

I find it staggering that you throw words like “bigot” around so easily given your reaction to being called a liar.

You talk about moving on. Would you like to know which one of us used the word “Brexit” more this month? Or which one of us posted in this thread about Brexit more?

If so, just hit “reply” again.

I wasn't replying to you pal. Now I really will leave it because I'll say something I will regret to you.

That's exactly what they are. You cannot vote in or out the likes Von Der Leyen and that's a democratic deficit EU-fans like to willfully ignore.

Our economy is holding up remarkably well considering the covid-impact, people risk their lives to get to this country from France yet some like to make out this country is some kind of backwater.

It's a strange mindset to want to have a corporatist-bloc bureaucracy, a political institution that nobody ever voted for, have a major say over your country, and to look down at others who want to be an independent country, and it's a mindset of superiority to others I am glad I do not share.
I think the problem is that British governments for quite a while now have demonstrated that they’re not fit to run a bath let alone a leading economy,
BTW, surely everyone is aware that when Britain has been successful it is because it has been run by a large group of unelected bureaucrats? The civil service. Yes Minister is no joke, and the clown car policy stuff that features more and more over the last couple of decades is the fault of populist political idiots who ignore that sage wisdom.

I will leave you to your circle jerk soon enough.

In the Wantage branch we do this while chanting "Brexiteers are too thick to enjoy this...".

We then drive to the car park of a nearby closed pub and plot how to make our lives more miserable.
