If we signed 7 more players and didn’t get rid of any wouldn’t we have a squad of about 30 which is absolutely mental?! And you’re saying ‘at least’… what do you want, 35, 40 players?! We’d be the next Chelsea! And everyone saw how well that went (yes it would be great if we could get rid of certain players but that’s by no means guaranteed or easy)In my opinion if we're aiming for playoffs/promotion we need at least...
2 full-backs
2 strikers
2 wingers
1 attacking midfielder
It's rare a team makes playoffs scoring less than 70-75+ goals in a season. The players currently at the club simply don't have the output.
Wingers are being neglected by many, but our 'main' wingers last season (Yanny, Murphy, Browne, Goodrham, Bodin) only provided 25 G/A between them in the league. Our output from midfield is pretty poor too.
Just a couple of full backs and a striker or two is nowhere near enough to turn us into a squad ready to push for playoffs!
I’m not sure what you’re smokingwe have enough wingers. Maybe one more will do like a Corebeanu We’ve got Rodrigues Browne and Bodin can play in the 10. 25 G/A ain’t bad when you look at the side last season. I think 3 Wing backs if Seddon goes, 2 strikers, and a winger if we let one goIn my opinion if we're aiming for playoffs/promotion we need at least...

Totally agree. Murphy has a real chance to shine if attitude is rightI have a little feeling josh Murphy will come good this year. And if im right just think how deadly are attack will be with Murphy Rodriguez supporting a hopefully goal scorer. Marcus Browne is another one who may yet come good. I’m not overly worried at this stage about them 2. Yanic I’m not convinced at all with mind but glass half full for me atm anyway

Also given we don’t have unlimited money and given that better players generally cost more, I’d rather sign 3-4 excellent players than 7-8 average ones.
A striker who’s too good for this level, banging in goals, and two decent, high energy wide defensive players and we’ll be looking like a decent side, in my opinion.
McEachran, Rodrigues and some better coaching and tactics should improve the output of those players, not to mention the natural development of GoodrhamIn my opinion if we're aiming for playoffs/promotion we need at least...

Your graphic shows 20 players, and doesn’t include McGinty. If we add 7-8 players to that then we’ll have a squad of 27-29 players, which is too high in my opinion.Just on numbers alone, we have 6 spaces available in the squad limits assuming that Gorrin isn't given a contract, Baldock is not registered and Seddon (not seen in training photos to date) is moving on.

So, 7 players coming in would be entirely feasible if only one was under 21 which you would think would be the case if we're looking at loanees from PL/Champ to bolster recruitment.
So it's not impossible to look towards bringing in 4 more permanent signings and 3 or 4 loan players, and maybe a couple of development players too. I don't think our budget will be hugely compromised as a result, and it will create strength in depth like we've not had for years.

For me, I’d rather have a smaller squad of about 25 players, all motivated and feeling included, and having a chance of playing, than a bloated dressing room of 29-30 unsettled players.

We've got room for plenty more, depends on budget as we're getting hammered by some ridiculous wages from KR last year but I believe there's more than enough for that. If we're only signing two players then a box to box midfielder should be nowhere near the top of the priorities, no point having McGuane and McEachran on the bench and playing Long and Brown as full backs. One Striker and a box to box midfielder, that's it until others move on .
Well it's likely McGinty will go out on loan, as will Negru, Golding, Josh Johnson, maybe Smyth & O'Donkor too (depending on how Manning rates them). Last season Plymouth had 31 players play for them in the league! If we signed 7 more players and didn’t get rid of any wouldn’t we have a squad of about 30 which is absolutely mental?! Squad limits are an arbitrary number though, what’s more important is reality.I've based the numbers on squad limits where goalkeepers and u21's don't count. There was a huge issue last season of us not having a full playing squad, so I'm only looking at increasing our numbers up to that limit but also having the advantage of younger players to bolster those numbers further.
I’ve seen twine mentioned a few times but that’s very unlikely, Dara Costelloe was on loan at Bradford last year as a winger.Any players from Burnley that would be good loan signings?
In The Times interview with Manning he says he had a call with Kompany about players of interest.
