International News Russian War With Ukraine

His attitude isn't anything to do with Communism though.

China are worried as Russia acknowledging separatist movements in other countries effectively undermines their One China policy with Taiwan.
Still effectively Russia a one party state.

Good on the GP. Not sure on Mazepin unless he is claiming the Russian invasion is justified (don't know either way).
Mazepin has a billionaire father who bankrolled his son for the drive apparently. he also happens to be a close friend of Putin as I understand. From what i've read
with the three day testing in Barcelona, Haas Team have removed all car advertising relating to his Fathers company and is now using a White livery. as an F1 fan,
Mazepin should never have had the drive in the first place, imo he is a dangerous driver and had penalty points issued last season partly for videoing a semi naked girl
whilst in a car on a track day. Should have been Callum Ilott who is a Brit and was runner up in F2 to Mick Schumacher.

Is now the time to start assembling an EU/NATO Army?
Once Putin reaches a point of no return, he’ll have to defeat the West or it will be curtains for him.
It’s too late to mobilise troops when the Russians are amassed on the the borders of Poland, Solvakia, Hungary and Romania.
If Putin hasn’t already reached a point of no return in Ukraine, then that line will crossed once his troops enter EU territory (then we’re all at war!)
A large assembled military force on the edge of the EU border might be enough to stop Putin from going that far.

From the Guardian 1hr ago:
Russia is ready to send diplomats to Minsk for talks with Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

According to the Interfax news agency, Peskkov said Vladimir Putin was ready to send officials from the Kremlin, defence and foreign affairs ministries for talks in the Belarusian capital to discuss “the neutral status of Ukraine”, adding that Ukraine’s “demilitarisation and denazification” were an essential part of this neutral status.

From the Guardian 10 minutes ago:
Russian President Vladimir Putin has urged the Ukrainian army to overthrow its leadership whom he labelled as a “gang of drug addicts and neo-Nazis who have has lodged itself in Kyiv and taken hostage the entire Ukrainian people.”

Does Putin seriously believe that? ‘Drug addicts and neo-Nazis’?!

His paranoia has gone overboard. He’s like late era Stalin.

So Vlad wants the Ukraine as a puppet state like Belarus is.
Its going to show the actual resolve of NATO and show up the weakness of the EU how this pans out although no one wants a wider conflict its extremely tragic the 'West ' sits by and watches a sovereign state be taken over .

I'm old enough to remember remainders stressing we shouldn't forget that peace in Europe was a benefit of a united EU only to be shouted down as scaremongering by those ..... (think) financed by Putin. 🤔
Glib and completely unrelated point about Brexit shoehorned into a thread about a war which is taking European lives and displacing millions of innocent civilians right this second 🤔

Brexit didn’t lead to Russia invading Ukraine but it’s outcome is all part of the divide and rule tactics from a belligerent Putin.

What’s easier to tackle? A united EU or a splintered one with factions within it bickering amongst themselves and then the ideal result of siphoning off one of the members entirely in the UK.

The Cold War never ended. It’s one of the many strings Putin has pulled in the West.
UK and EU cooperation seems exemplary thus far - we've gone harder than most with our sanctions and I think it's great that we're able to do that. I'm sure the EU aren't upset with it either.

Yes but that is nowt to do with Communism.
Ok gangsters then with all the Oligarchs who must have had a big play in corruption of the break up of the USSR with Putin as the Don and Abramovich as his consigliere, with all the other Oligarchs as the Capo’s.
Maybe Putin feels he’s the Russian version of the Teflon Don John Gotti and he fears a power struggle from within.

Yeah, you keep away from that mirror.

Kleptocracy is the word you want.
