Watching Saturday's game back, more evidence of McGuane not being a natural holding midfielder with their late chance. Ball watching as he chases back, no awareness of what's going on around him and positioning all wrong to stop an easy pass to the Charlton player he should be picking up. Lucky that Easty made the save.

Thought, as ever, he was great in possession again. We just need a specialist DMC to come in to give him and CB the platform to play whilst keeping tight ourselves.

Agree about the DMC position.

Gorrin is a natural in that position, yes he has some limitations (eg quick incisive passing) , but he the best we have in the squad for breaking up play and covering other players when they go forward or are caught out of position.

McGuane this season and Kane last season are wasted playing in a defensive midfield position, get McGuane further up the pitch where he can actually do some damage to the opposition.

Seemed strange to me that Gorrin came on and became our most advanced MF….?? Totally agree Mcguanne is our most gifted player at breaking the lines and carrying the ball forwards, yet is being asked to play CDM…

Will McGuane cause damage further up the pitch or will he flatter to deceive? I think he’s been one of our leading lights this season with the way he goes past players and he seems strong on the ball when he wants to be. But his missed chance on Saturday wasn’t great. There seemed to be a lack of belief for someone who you’d want regularly getting into the final third, in contrast to Marcus Brown. And can he unlock defences with incisive forward passes?

That sounds like I’ve got a downer on him and I certainly don’t. I think, on the whole he’s been impressive. I just wonder what his best position actually is.

I think McGuane benefits (and by extensions looks more dangerous) from sitting deeper and having the majority of the opposition in front of him, I think this has something to do with why he's looked so much better this season, that isn't to say he couldn't still play deeper with a DM beside him but that then does limit your attacking options in the box, especially when only playing with the one striker.

Peter Vaughan would be perfect on the wing. He don’t take any messing around.

"Karl Robinson rues injuries"...you couldn't write it, but then again I guess it is the Oxford Mail's job.

It's as if he had nothing to do with signing these players - their injury records were there for all to see.

In general I'm an optimistic fan, but it is becoming increasingly irritating that KR cannot see this season's failings for what they are. Blaming 'bad luck' also leads me to believe it will happen again.

We've gone in for high-level players (Baldock, Browne, Murphy) who are better than this level on paper but injury-prone. This means it's a high-stakes gamble - keep them all fit and we have a good shot at promotion, injuries and we'll be battling at the other end of the table.

I can't believe I'm typing this, but It should be no surprise that injury-prone players are prone to injury.

Somebody on here who claimed to be knowledgeable on fitness etc shot me down a couple of years ago for claiming some players are injury prone, George Thorne being one saying there is no such thing as 'injury prone' it's generally bad luck!! What a load of c**p.

Interested that PEC Zolle's left-back from last season Kenneth Paal is thriving at 3rd in Championship QPR. PEC Zwolle's right-back was Djavan Anderson, suggests he should be capable enough at this level.

He looked pretty capable in the week I thought bar the penalty, didn’t seem to lose possession easily
