Is Andre wisdom worth a look?

What’s worrying is, if the transfer window opened tomorrow and you were looking to sign players to sort out this mess, you’d say we need:

• A starting GK who is comfortable with the ball at his feet
• An attacking left back
• A centre back who can dribble/bring the ball out
• A strong DCM
• A pacy right winger
• A striker who can hold the ball up and play the lone central striker role

(and that’s assuming that Long/Anderson is the answer at right back)

You could maybe say the right winger will be sorted when Murphy is back, and maybe we could do without the keeper, but even so that’s 4-6 players! That’s way too many to need in January.

At the end of the day I have no faith in the issues in this team to be resolved with the current regime, our problems started last January when we needed to sign 4 players (left back, centre back, defensive midfielder & striker) instead we signed Browne knowing of his injury, Smyth which has been a mystery as he hasn’t played a minute of EFL yet Ciaron Brown came in to cover 2 positions in the end as KR failed to get another LB in & then once we didn’t bring in the striker we wanted in January we went for Baldock after the window shut who only lasted less than 4 weeks & hasn’t played a game since 5th March.

Moving forward to this summer knowing the key areas we needed fullbacks specially at Left Back as we knew already Seddon’s not good enough, an upgrade in the Goalkeeper department & DCM as Gorrin was coming back from a long term injury as our main priorities but yet again we failed to rectify them issues in this window. Eastwood should of never been our number 1 going into this season there was no doubt both Eastwood & Steven’s who was way below par the previous season neither were up to the job so we needed an upgrade instead we went for someone to develop who so far looks rash in his decision making in the couple of games he’s played & doesn’t look ready to be cucked in at the deep end. Then we move on to left back we start the season with Seddon again & we get the same old outcome (doesn’t matter if he’s in a back 4 or back 5 as a left wing back he will never be good enough hence why he’s been dropped for Brown yet again in the past month). Now we’re nearly a year in since Gorrin done his ACL & we’ve gone 2 windows without addressing the issue using stop gaps in that position 1st H Kane then now McGuane who’s had an excellent season but would be more suited further forward so CLASSIC KR again decided instead of signing a DCM so McGuane could be 1 of 2 number 8’s in 4-3-3 alongside Brannagan we’ll go for 5.6ft Lightweight Bate another typically gifted player who just gets bullied at league 1 level despite needing a physical element through our midfield to do all the dirty work & get the ball forward (simply an upgrade on Gorrin what was needed in the past 2 years as we know AG is limited in what he does).

My God this board need to be ruthless when it comes to sorting out this mess what we currently have at present by the end of this month specially as we will be in a relegation battle there’s no two ways about it in my mind (we’ll be 15 games 1/3 in being realistic we’ll only gain a point at Exeter if we’re lucky along with 3 defeats to Peterborough Portsmouth & Bolton = 3 wins 3 draws 9 defeats) Robinson needs to go ASAP & they need to make 2 appointments 1. Head Coach 2. Director of Football giving them time to work out what’s needed come January 1st (which is obvious to see at present on the pitch).

My take on the timeline going forward:

Jan at 2023 - KR talks excitedly about being aggressive in the January transfer window. We’ll be sat in 17th place after one or two welcome if unexpected wins.

May 2023 - KR talks excitedly about building on a good end to the season after finishing in a respectable 14th place. Also talks excitedly about stadium developments. And how much he loves Kidlington. Or something…

May 2024 - Karl talks excitedly about building on a good season after finishing 10th. Also talks about all the huge teams that we are competing with in Division 1.

Oh, and we’re going to be really aggressive in the Summer transfer window.
