Hey guys,

I have just been looking at the latest manager odds for us and I have to say it is uninspiring. There are a number of "big" names but none of them have any experience yet on the same list is one man that I think should be a no brainer.

Mark Warburton is highly experienced at this level having got Brentford promoted playing attractive football. We should be doing all we can to get this man to our club. I think he was unlucky to lose his job with Forest and it is hard to see anyone doing better there in the short term.

His manager record is thus:

GP 197 W 109 D 34 L 54

this amounts to a win % of 55.33 which is astounding compared to many managers at this level.

Thought he should be our number 1 target the day Pep left. But looking at them stats now, he will probably want to hold off for a Championship club.

He would be my first choice, but whether he would want to start again in league 1, is anyone’s guess.

IF Warburton somehow does make it through the interview/ beauty parade process with whoever the powers that be pulling the strings at OUFC happen to be, and does end up as new head coach/ manager, perhaps to welcome him we could resurrect that old-time hymn, (at times favoured by Welsh men's choirs), the chorus of which was last belted out en masse by Oxford United faithful while invading the pitch at an awayday at Cambridge or Kettering many years ago ( I think Big Ron was the opposition's manager that day? )..... given Warburton's family business it may help him settle in quicker should he get the job

Always brings Davie Weir with him so Faz would be out of the job. His teams play a lot of tippy tappy stuff and his comment at Rangers that he has his plan A and if it's not working then they need to try harder set the alarm bells going.

Warburton will be looking for a bigger club for starters, I suggest you watch his interviews after many Gers and Forest games when he just comes out with the same old soundbites..

I remember that day well it was cambridge and for some reason we were locked in after the game..if memory serves me correctly there were a few non welcoming objects coming over into the terraces where we stood.
I think Big Ron was pleading for calm and order from the Oxford faithful.

Jeff is / was head of security for Iron Maiden - still lives in Cowley I believe
Mick is / was living in Spain

No way! That's brilliant . Before the days of polite doormen, they were polite doormen (unless things went south of course). Wasn't Jeff a Leeds fan?

No thanks, a lot of his win stastics were with Rangers in the lower leagues when they were back on the way up.

Played very good football at Brentford, developed players and was successful.
He certainly seems to fit into the criteria that DE has.
