Agree about Sam Long. He has picked up a couple of injuries at bad times but went out on loan last season and earnt himself a new contract. Just hope he can get a few games to show his worth as he could certainly hold his own in league 1 with a bit of luck.
Agree with that too ^ @Scotchegg :)

It will be interesting to see which of the above go out on loan in the near future.

The obvious imbalance is with the keepers at U23 level, with the balance between Shearer and Stevens as the main #2 being an important factor. From a position of no knowledge at all, I would suggest that Stevens will flit between the senior bench/cup runouts and the U23s, sharing the latter with Clayton, with Agboola being the one to go out, maybe even with an eye to a permanent move(!)

The rest depends on the frequency of U23 games, and whether that will be enough for the blue group to get enough pitch time alongside senior outings of various regularity, or whether one or two might go out until Christmas? IF I had to pick one, I'd lean towards Carroll being the player most in need of a sustained run of games, at a slightly lower level to learn a little more about the game.

From a personal perspective, I'd like to see Sam Long put his injury history behind him and have a strong season in the first team setup.
I guess on the keeper front Jon the question is which one does the club rate most for the future?
I agree that we seem to have one too many and the club have invested inStevens/Agboola.

The first team squad is 22 players, already there are players wrong in the section and with more players coming in and out the pecking order will change again.
Which players are wrong? Am happy to make changes!

Just be mindful it's been suggested a 22 man first team squad, wait for the official announcement and what players move.
Thanks. I currently have 23 in the first team squad...with Little moving up from the U23s.

There is a lot of fluidity across the teams so look forward to the announcement.

There seem to be a few hints that players are likely to be leaving. I assume fringe players like Carroll?

I See you still have a 24 man first team squad, with players to still come in you might have to move around 4 of your squad players to fit the 22.
Correct, however who would you suggest that won’t be part of the squad?

Much happier now we have another striker signed albeit on loan.
Just a couple more quality players coming would see us well sorted.
I have a quiet confidence that we are going to do very nicely this season.

Napa out on loan to Macclesfield, good move for him. New 3 year contract, too.

Updated with those in/out in italics etc.

Changed the first XI to those that started Saturday...despite this clearly not being our best team! Will have a better idea by the end of August.
