Listen, we’d all check if we were safe to drive by putting our wife and child in the car and seeing how we go, and then parking up by the river and getting out, to the point that a member of the public sees and recognises us and claims we were there which in turn proves to be true.

Now, he has just said his wife didn't have Covid symptoms (but was throwing up) prior to the drive to Durham in answering one of the reporters. So he didn't have to leave at all.

Edit: Apparently he was also testing his vision by driving to Barnard Castle. Surely, you make sure your vision is fine before actually driving?
