New Stadium Plans - The Triangle - Planning

The stadium project was kick started after the council vote last September.
So why this post and why now on the last day of the consultation?
You clearly have not being following events .
Or
Are you Ian Middleton or Steve Hill and being deliberately mischievous ?

Don't think he's Middleton. More likely Miller or Levy. 🤣

In fairness, they joined a year ago and posts about games more than about the stadium, where as you joined a few weeks ago and have only contributed to this thread.

I would respectfully suggest that you are both Oxford United fans but some are more informed than others.
Scotch egg. I may well have rejoined this forum a few weeks ago, but I can assure you that I have been posting on here in support of the stadium for at least two years. I can also assure you that Bicester U is playing a game with us. Now I know you are a passionate supporter and on the OUSP, but don’t underestimate the intelligence of fellow posters. Keep up the good work though, you’re doing a great job. Regarding the rejoining, that was due to a technical problem and I had to re register and decided to use a different name. I am unable to post under my old name so I can assure you that I only have ONE name.

Deliberately mischievous, yes. Middleton or Steve Hill? Absolutely not.

I’ve been saying similar things about the stadium in the last couple of weeks - it’s beyond the control of a lot of people some are ‘pressuring’, and whoever is on the planning committee has to abide by the same regulations.

There are plenty of reasons for the silence from some circles (most of them absolutely nothing to do with football, let alone OUFC) and it seems to me that one of the least likely reasons is because they’re all secretly evil and want to end OUFC.

Can't be either of those two, there's no overbearing sense of superiority over football fans and poor people.

You can, and I very much appreciate the cordial response, but - equally respectfully - you’d be wrong.

Look, I’m being a bit of a dick here (ok, a complete dick!) at the moment because I genuinely can’t see - beyond the kind of objections you’d 100% expect from Levy and Gant as local (ish) councillors - what the LDs *as a whole* have done to make people think the group is against the stadium.

Politics is sh!te.

Local v regional v national, etc. Of course Gant is going to object; he’s the local Cllr for one if the areas with the people most likely to be against it. If he doesn’t object, he’s never getting elected again, and the LDs lose a seat.

But much like Victoria Prentis, my MP in Bicester, will campaign for local issues whilst simultaneously *knowing* whatever it is will close because of cuts *her* Government are making, so uber local councillors will be allowed by their parties to object to uber local ‘stuff’ because it keeps the cllr a seat on whatever council they’re on, and keeps the party a seat. It’s dirty, it’s immoral, but it happens. That doesn’t mean that the regional party, OCC Lib Dems as a group, etc. are against whatever it is that the councillor is objecting to.

All I’ve seen is the Conservatives and Labour sniping from the sidelines about how easy it should be. So they want a lease and stadium with *no* conditions attached? So that the owners could sell the stadium from under us? So that (some of) the residents’ of Kidlington’s worst fears come to fruition, and the roads are gridlocked every other weekend?

This is a massive, massive project - it’s not putting up a garden shed. OCC are doing their due diligence to make sure their decisions don’t back fire on them.

I think some of the emotion need to be taken out of this because as I’ve said prevoulsy, whoever is in charge of CDC have to follow the planing guidelines as laid out by Government. If our application meets them, it’ll be approved.

But we need to make sure the club is focussed on meeting the conditions that were laid down in September 2023 by OCC so that OCC have no excuses for not cracking on with us.

Apologies to anyone whose heart rate I sent through the ceiling - it was probably the wrong to do what I was trying to do.

PS I genuinely can’t find where McIvor is standing as Green 😉
Thanks for posting this reply.

Any oufc in Kidlington East please get out and vote on 2nd May there's a lot of Linda Ward posters about will need everyone to stop them.
I live in this ward and will be voting either Labour or Conservative. Both the Greens and LibDems are standing and hopefully they will finish 3rd & 4th.

Green candidates
Kidlington West - Amanda Maguire (proposed by Middleton and Mawson)
Kidlington East - Linda Ward
Bicester North - Victoria Campbell
Bicester West - Trevor Campbell
Banbury Ruscote - Julie Middleton
Where does this Julie Middleton live

I'm not judging anyone, but a quick look at BicesterU's posts shows that there have been a number of posts about games and players, including the offer of tickets that they couldn't use etc.

So I have no doubt that they are a genuine supporter, but that doesn't mean that they can not also post some absolute rubbish! Numerous posters post things that I completely disagree with, and show their support in very different ways.

I have no skin in this game, but not sure there's much to gain by fighting amongst ourselves whilst there are far more important fights to have.

Good man well done wouldn't tell anyone how to vote would be a pity to split the vote I have no preference I m voting in support of oufc any thing but Green or Lib Dem.

Sorry, I’m confused. The LDs and Greens run OCC (I think), and have just agreed heads of terms, and the club are talking very positively about that same council signing other stuff later this week.

Can you explain as I if I’m an idiot (shouldn’t be hard!) why the Lib Dem’s and greens are anti-stadium?

Seems to me like they’ve continued to work behind the scenes with the club since October to agree the HoT, and are close to signing anything else that needs to be signed.

I’m confused how this makes them ‘anti-stadium’.
Wed have probably got Stratfield Brake if there was no Lib Dems and Greens on the councils!

Councillor McIvor sits on Gosford and Water Eaton Parish Council.

They’ve done it because the heat was put on them but myself and many others on social media & on the doorstep, make no mistake, they saw the rumbles it was causing in the new constituency the ground is in. They had to act to save face and to try and claw back votes they were otherwise going to lose. They won’t be getting my vote anyway, but the issue of the heads of terms has come at the worst time for them, leaving them unsigned would of consigned them to a heavy defeat at the ballot box. It probably still will, Levy & Gant scored massive own goals coming out against it on the portal. I wouldn’t be surprised if their positions are at risk very shortly.
Even if we get this stadium those two fuckers should be voted out.

@Victor1986 , @OUFC OX3 , @Kiewhite

From the begin of this thread you 3 have all stated that you will not respond to OCC. Would you care to explain that?
A lot of people are wondering if you really are Oxford fans?

@BristolOx , @Orkney Islands Yellow , @West Oxon U’s , @essexdave , @CrowOx , @billyturleyscurlywurly

And the same request goes to the members named above who promised to write to OCC later but have apparently not done so. Why?
I emailed Liz Leffman, Duncan Enright. Also sent an email to Nathan Ley in Abingdon North, I added my support for the Triangle on the planning Portal at the weekend and got family to support it too.
