New Stadium Plans - The Triangle - Planning

Too many examples of acting in bad faith and despite today's announcement a feeing that for them the following may apply

They’ve done it because the heat was put on them but myself and many others on social media & on the doorstep, make no mistake, they saw the rumbles it was causing in the new constituency the ground is in. They had to act to save face and to try and claw back votes they were otherwise going to lose. They won’t be getting my vote anyway, but the issue of the heads of terms has come at the worst time for them, leaving them unsigned would of consigned them to a heavy defeat at the ballot box. It probably still will, Levy & Gant scored massive own goals coming out against it on the portal. I wouldn’t be surprised if their positions are at risk very shortly.

But as Gant and Levy are fairly local, weren’t they always likely to object to some degree to ‘keep the natives’ happy? Whether they remain as county councillors is dependent on them after all, isn’t it?

But aren’t they also part of the Cabinet/Lead group that both agreed the lease in principle, have agreed the heads of terms, and no - according to the club - are set to agree other important matters in the very near future?

Just trying to make it all add up.

Sorry, I’m confused. The LDs and Greens run OCC (I think), and have just agreed heads of terms, and the club are talking very positively about that same council signing other stuff later this week.

Can you explain as I if I’m an idiot (shouldn’t be hard!) why the Lib Dem’s and greens are anti-stadium?

Seems to me like they’ve continued to work behind the scenes with the club since October to agree the HoT, and are close to signing anything else that needs to be signed.

I’m confused how this makes them ‘anti-stadium’.
seriously?

are you genuinely unaware of what certain Lib Dem councillors have publically stated, recently too- the same Lib Dem councillors who have delayed and delayed signing the Heads of Terms agreement?

Really?

They have deliberately delayed the negotiations and final wording of the heads of terms .
They have openly stated on the planning site and elsewhere, that they are anti stadium .
Heads of Terms = OCC
Planning = CDW
Heads of Terms only relevant if planning is granted .
CDW Elections May 2nd .
A change of control on CDW could scupper a yes vote and decline planning permission.
So still important to vote Labour or Conservative and NOT Lib Dem or Green

They agreed to the lease as they know it’s one of the most political own goals they can make.

The fact is, if this stadium is rejected the first time round, there will be an appeal & in my view that appeal would be successful either by that or by Secretary of State, because to reject it would to allow a football club with a century of history to perish & im not sure any political party wants that on their conscience. We however shouldn’t be complacent, had even have our attendance from the last game at home submitted feedback and support, we would have 4,500 comments of support, we cannot be complacent and quite frankly, don’t trust the lib dems as far as you can throw them, ditto the Green Party.

Because my friend the next important step is with the CDC Planning Committee
All through the process so far Lib Dens and Greens have held up proceedings
The Conservatives and Labour have been behind the project from the start
Now although H of T have finally been agreed at least 3 senior Lib Dem’s have come out and openly said they are anti stadium
Cllr. Miller is saying one thing in public but another when canvassing
The next crucial step is with the CDC planning meeting. If more Lib Dem’s or Greens elected means our chances of getting it through receed
Hope that is clear

There has been quite a few but at the same time must are just the normal comments of can stay at the kassam site to small etc etc
Been plenty of support also coming in tho just not from Kidlington
Having looked through the comments, there have been an awful lot of Objections uploaded most recently. Whoever you are, wherever you are from & especially those in the local area. If you haven’t done so already then put your support in for this new stadium. Do not regret not taking action & putting your support in. This may be your only chance!

Not all Lib Dem's or Green's have held up the process or come out against the stadium, it's just a select few, the rest are sitting on the fence. The conservatives and Labour are coming out in favour as they want to win their seats back.

We are being used at the centre of a political party fight.

Anyways as far as holding up the process with regards to the heads of terms I'm not sure that is correct.

We certainly don't want another Kassam situation and it's important the council put the right protections in place.

The Lib Dem’s were never sharing beds with the Greens.

It would of been political suicide on there part!

It will all go through, and building will start in the Autumn.

Anyone fancy some part time labouring, to help speed up the build process…

There is actually a formal political alliance between them locally.

Suzanne McIvor is a green party councillor and Victoria Campbell is a green party candidate. We all know the greens are anti-stadium.

Whilst that alliance remains in place we must assume the LibDem's are against the stadium too until they leave that alliance or publicly come out in support of the stadium.

Until that point they can't be trusted and we must campaign against them.

As you say lots of opponents are saying : I’ve heard that they can ‘stay where they are’, ‘the ‘site is too small’ and that a ‘beautiful, biodiverse,
wildlife paradise’ will be destroyed. They’ve fat necked the FoSB kool-aid.

Is that how planning committees work? I thought any decision they made had to be in line with whatever the national planning guidelines are?

What would be a disaster would be that CDC fell into the hands of a LibDem Green alliance in control. Now normally I would choose my candidate based on the party they are standing for. This time I will vote for the candidate that supports the development at the triangle.

True, I did notice that. All very valid points, what people think in that local area will be about 50/50 and the rest of them Oxfordshire is unanimously in favour and it’s not just for kidlington. It’s for every town or place in Oxfordshire. Not just about kidlington where it will be seperated from by a roundabout, and any noise will be minimal and no more than the cars they have going through their village now.
