I can’t make it on Saturday so it’s bound sure to be an oxford win, biggest game of the season so far, coyy.

Cometh the hour cometh the team. This is it one week of hopefully great play ,abit of luck and 7 points from 9 that would be unbelievable. Looking forward to Saturday, I watch the Peterborough game last night they are none stop ,we can't sit back we really have got to get at them .Looking forward to a great game .1-0 win would be fantastic COYY

Shouldn't it be 13/04/2024 ?

Playoffs aren't over if we draw or even lose, but this would be a huge statement of intent to win.

I'd stick with pretty much the same team as last weekend. Think it'll be 2-1 either way

Before the Shrewsbury game, I suggested we'd draw that one and win the next two (so 100% so far). At that time, I predicted a loss to Peterborough, and while the performances have been better and you can only beat what's in front of you, I still have little confidence in the defence against a halfway decent attack - so I will stick to my prediction, and hope I am wrong! 0-2

Anything less than 3 points leaves us requiring to beat Lincoln and Stevenage IMO. Saying that, would probably still take a point.

Posh will still fancy their chances of autos after last night's win which I think would suit us, meaning they will come to play and we can counter. Absolutely terrified at the thought of Mason-Clark up against Long and to be honest I can see Dale/Murphy being pinned back regularly. If we can attack with pace then I'd fancy us against most defences but think that's dependent on Posh actually allowing us to get out first.

I predict a cagey affair until an opener opens the game right up, if we can get that first goal then we have every chance of a good result....

What a game for the neutral, but neither us or them. I'll go 1-1 but an open and fiery affair in front of a crowd of 10,345

I watched Peterborough last night. Worth saying that Port Vale looked as poor as when we played them & they were at home, so not sure how representative what I watched was to what we’ll see on Saturday.

My main thought was I worry about Sam Long a lot at RB. Posh have one of the strongest left sides I’ve seen. 20 goals & 18 assists coming in Lg 1 from Harrison Burrows & Mason Clark. Burrows is very attacking, if Dale doesn’t track him or we stick to 1 DM (with no other DM to help Long out) I can see Long being taken to the cleaners. Vale weren’t attacking, so maybe Burrows will be slightly less attacking on Sat, but it’s a powerful left side for sure.

I also noticed that although Krypianou starts quite deep in midfield he’s more box to box & gets forward a lot more than Collins next to him. Often resulting in 2 number 10’s. Again not sure how a single DM, like we’ve playing, copes with that.

I thought Posh’s right side was certainly weaker. Can see Murphy getting some joy from the right back Katongo.

Be an interesting team selection for Des. Even with Cam fit does he go for a single DM, or double up to cover off the midfield & provide someone closer to Long & Dale for cover. Or does he just try and impose our style on Posh & force Burrows and Krypianou to play a less attacking style. If Cam isn’t fit, does he trust Mccechran or Mcguane to do that same role on their own. Be interesting to see what he does.

I want us to attack, attack, attack. Then if that doesn't work, attack some more. It was what I expected from Des when he took over, not attack until we score then sit back. Now he's finally going for it, fans want us to be more pragmatic? Nah let's have a proper go. We've tried playing safe against the top teams and it's got us nowhere. I want 3-3 against Peterborough, 5-4 against Lincoln (ideally to us) and then an absolute trouncing of Stevenage. COYY.

I'm not sure I want us to be pragmatic, as such. But lets be honest we've beaten some of the worst teams in the league recently in a more attacking style. The last decent team we played we lost 5-0. So it'll certainly be interesting to see which route Des follows on Saturday. Is he a manager who is more inclined to try and negate the opposition threat, or is he going to try and force them to adapt to us. Possibly the most interesting team selection we've had for some time to see what Des is all about.

Any news on our injured players? Will they be fit to start on Saturday?

Well we have to be in "must win" territory now?

Awesome display of swashbuckling attacking football as we put them to the sword to ready ourselves for the biggest week in a while.

3-1.

A huge huge huge HUGE game.

I worry we are expecting too much from Brannagan - especially with the knock he had last Saturday. I have no alternative though and there is the point around why change a winning formula. I think I'd still persist with RR instead of Goodrham and use TG to destroy tired legs in the second half

Desmond 2-2.

Difficult to see our sluggish defence coping with the pace of Peterborough. I really do worry about Sam Long, more than normal. I’m not quite sure how we stop it but there’s an inevitable struggle there.

But we have players in form and Posh aren’t perfect. Murphy will be kicked, he needs to be patient and stay calm. And I do fancy us to create enough at home to grab a couple ourselves.

Lincoln looks key for 6th but Barnsley look catchable at this rate so we should be bang up for this.

I'm pretty sure that "must win", "most important game" or something of that ilk comes up in every single match day thread ;)
