You knew it was coming, as nothing has really changed.
But credit today for giving it a go and getting the 3 points.
Some cross from Dale, And Leigh being there to finish it off.

Exactly this, last week no one cared we played well because we lost and thatโ€™s all that mattered
Wow. Now thereโ€™s a porky if Iโ€™ve ever seen it. I think everybody came away from Portsmouth full of positives about how weโ€™d played. Even the most cynical were only disappointed to see us lose having played so well. Today I expect everybody to be delighted with the result but we played shite bar a couple of short spells which is massively disappointing after supposedly turning a corner last week. Itโ€™s ok to discuss both.

Results always matter most, especially when you pick up one point in 2 very winnable home games. That was all that made the Pompey result more important.

So the focus was on both today after another loss. Could we play well twice in a row and win a game that we really ought to win? The answer was very nearly no to both of those.

Of course weโ€™ll take it. But a lot of the big concerns reared themselves again today and Iโ€™m again unconvinced that Des is taking this team anywhere fast. Apart from anything else it was dreadful entertainment. And after Portsmouth you told me that weโ€™d been crap up until that game because Des had the handbrake on and had finally taken it off. So wtf was that performance today???

Last 5 minutes of the first half and the last 10 minutes of the second half were great, the rest, not so much. But a wins a win. Very very impressed with Dale so far, you can tell heโ€™s featured in a lot of games this season, looks sharp and fit. If heโ€™s the type of profile that Des is looking for, then Iโ€™m very happy. Cumming looks like Eastwood mk II to me, hopefully he can pick it up for the remaining games but a significant downgrade on Beadle so far, which to be fair, was always likely to be the case

Dale was excellent..what an acquisition for the club. For me reminiscent of the late great Dave Sloan on the right (for those old enough to remember him!)
Yes Murphy gets alot of plaudits a few more Dale's and Harris .Murphy doesn't get stuck in like these 2

There must be some intermittent internet issues across Oxfordshire today. Some people are able to post within seconds of Cheltenham scoring but disappeared in the hour since we got the winner!!

Last week these same posters were saying that now was the time for results, the performance doesn't matter. But today we have post after post moaning about the performance. It wasn't great in the second half, but we were in control for most of it, and they only created two chances, one which they scored from. We had several good chances, with the keeper making some good saves, defenders making vital blocks and a couple where we wasted good positions. And then even when we conceded, the players didn't give up like some on here, they fought for the win.

It might have been scrappy, but so what? 9 more games like that and I'll be very happy! We're fighting for promotion and that means winning ugly at times. Portsmouth have been doing that all season.

Before the game there were 5 maybe 6 teams fighting for 6th place. We gained points on Stevenage, Blackpool, Leyton Orient and Northampton. Lincoln matched our points. So we are in a stronger position than before kick off on 4 of the 5 teams around us. That's a good thing!

And we continue to see glimpses of the Des Buckingham style. Our two out and out wingers were again excellent for big parts of that game. Murphy and Dale were unplayable at times and were both kicked and pulled on and off the ball numerous times with no protection. A good referee would have seen Cheltenham down to 9 or 10 and we would have created so much more with defenders knowing that they can't foul them.

But however you look at it, today was a good day with 3 much needed points. Same again Tuesday please.

Yes. You spent all game moaning about the performance and were very quick to post when we conceded. Since the end the of the game, not a peep out of you.
If you actually think I don't want the football club I love to win, you're mistaken.

Performance today was woeful, that's just the truth. Cheltenham were dismal. We sat back and invited pressure (as per usual) before the players seemingly abandoned any game plan and went for it.

We have been very, very poor under Des despite having some very good players.

The idea anyone on here royal standard, kip etc doesn't want us to win is plain stupid. We have a very, very competitive budget and some good players, the performances aren't good enough.

Maybe because we play again Tuesday?

I really didn't think we were that terrible today. Did enough to deserve the win, for sure. Cheltenham keep the ball in the air and are very physical in second ball challenges, which makes it hard to get any flow going. Not at our free-flowing best, but definitely not "terrible" either.
