Well it's that's true, then Des is fully justified in his stance
If thats the case I also agree. But why not show some balls and come out and say, his attitude isn’t right and not working hard enough. Instead of saying it’s a numbers game crap every week. Think Des needs to show a bit more authority, especially if the rumours about him being a bit weak are true.

It looked to me like Pompey simply didn't make many mistakes.
I kept expecting their fast/long passes to go out of touch, but I can't rember that happening. They seemed to win all the headers in the middle of the park.
They never panicked

If we play like that every week, other teams will make mistakes and we will start to get some positive results.

Danish bacon danish bacon πŸ₯“ yummy yummy yummy yummy yummy yummy yum
And many other things. Danish bread and pastries fresh from the bakery. (especially after a night out, many a time been to the back door of the local baker at 4 in the morning to get the first batch out of the ovens!)
Real Danish beer, not the stuff we get here that has little in common with the real deal.

Can't say much about the game as our seats were very close to the front of the stand and we had the sun in eyes almost the entire game. Bloke in front was constantly getting up to shout abuse at anyone who so much as got in his eyeline (including our own fans!) Quite what his partner and the three small children with him thought, who knows. (wouldn't be surprised to learn that she knew better than to contradict him though)

We stayed overnight with my brother and his partner, she lives not far from Fareham so we caught the train from there to Fratton. The type of journey many will be considering if we get the new stadium up and running. Crowded on the way there and heaving on the way back. All very well controlled at Fratton station with orderly queues (until actually getting on the train -bit of a squeeze and elbows out job!) Having Oxford Parkway so close will be a real boon and I really can't see anyone not trying the trains if they can. Modern rolling stock is so much more comfortable than I remember old British Rail!

Ive had the prostate cancer battle, its a long hard journey ,tell him to keep positive and hopefully like me he will/can come through it. Wishing him well.
Best wishes on recovery. I am due to find out what happens after my biopsy what happens. I know it’s probably going to be a month or more of uncomfortable treatment, so not looking overly forward to it

Because some people will seek and find the disappointment in any given situation, and then share that disappointment with others because they think it makes them look informed and prescient, when in reality it makes them look like miserable sods.

If we do manage to pick up 20 points from the last 10 games and find ourselves in to the play-offs, these same people will be saying that we don’t deserve it, only got there through luck, and won’t be wasting their money on a ticket to Wembley because we’ll only end up losing anyway and what’s the point of supporting your team if you think they’ll lose.

Every club has β€˜supporters’ like this, and they are - almost without exception - the worst of us.
It's about accepting the reality of where we are since the start of Buckingham's tenure. Some people need to remove the yellow tinted glasses.
The football and results over the past 20 games have nowhere near been good enough.
One promising performance doesn't change that, by the way it was another defeat.
I admire your optimism of 20 points from the next 10 games, that would be some turnaround from 22 points from the previous 20 games.
So it's not fans being miserable sods it's being pragmatic and accepting the realism for what it is.

Realism means being realistic about the players at Bickingham's disposal for the majority of that time.

We are a better team when our best players are fit,

I don;t know what colour your glasses are- brown probably since you seem only to want see the sh1ttiest aspect of things,

Some people need to remove the yellow tinted glasses.
So it's not fans being miserable sods it's being pragmatic and accepting the realism for what it is.

Surely this is what being a football fan is about? If we accepted the realism of supporting a club that has not played higher than this for over 25 years, travelling up and down the country to the likes of Droitwich, Barrow, Stafford Rangers etc, spending thousands of pounds, putting games before friends and family and missing all sorts of social events, then none of us would go to games.

I wear my yellow tinted glasses with pride and will continue to do so, especially when we're maybe 6 wins away from the playoffs and then anything could happen.

You can poke your pragmatism!

Come on Scotchers, I know you're the eternal optimist, and that's fine, but do you really think we're gonna win 6 of our last 10 games?!?

There's being negative, there's being positive, and there's being pragmatic, but there's also being completely bloody deluded as well!

To make the playoffs, we'll probably need a couple of draws as well, so that will be 6 wins and 2 draws from our last 10 games, having only won 1 of our previous 10 games.

That's about as likely as Tyler Burey building us a fourth stand at Legoland during his trips to Denmark...

Why else would he have gone there?

Oh, except for the women, beer, pastries, sandwiches, and bacon. So I'm with the Egg...six wins, two draws, and two defeats (damn!) to get us into the playoffs.

If I wasn't over optimistic about my team, why would I have supported them for 60 plus years?

Can't blame Des for that though, if he's brought in a player who is showing such a lack of focus and commitment, that he's turning up late for training, and swanning off to Denmark whenever he feels like it, then he doesn't deserve to be in the match day squads, and Des is fully justified to leave him out.

It also make an example out of him, and sends a message to the rest of the squad, that regardless of who you are, and how much money is being spent on you, if you f**k about, and don't show the required level of commitment and focus, then you're out of the squad.
But airline must have known back in September what his attitude was like and feel we could have gone elsewhere.
Tbh that’s poor

Yesterday the Oxford fans were given a performance worthy of getting a result at a club who after 7 seasons of lge 1 football are on the brink of a return to the championship.

Their 5 minutes of noise towards the end of the game was impressive - but I think it was the sheer relief from their fans who can now see their club (they hope) after years of being just another lower lge club actually emerge to join the slightly higher echelons of the EFL.

However, I do have my doubts about them as a team and although we lost yesterday this Oxford team with players returning since we played the poms at the k*ssam should have wiped the floor with them after conceding so early.

They know in their heads that we should have could have won that game yesterday and they will face that continuously next season so from that blue army performance I witnessed yesterday I expect them to spunk around the bottom 6 places unless they improve their squad four fold.

Nevertheless, after 55 seasons of following my club I'm starting to run out of patience and years in getting ourselves back into Div 2 (Championship) again and if we don't make the play offs this season and I haven't quite given up on that as of yet until the f*t lady sings we must if we are all ambitious enough make sure it happens next season by thinking big and by way of marketing our club much better in selling this club to more and more younger (16-24) fans to come on board for the journey (obviously not the Firozovia one lol) by way of offering much better ST deals to this group of next generation supporters.

I generally believe the broom has started sweeping out tired practices within the club which isn't always nice - but to be a top 30 club, unfortunately, changes are needed for the better fortunes of progression. We can't have it both ways.

Starting next week with the forum and Saturday's game with Cheltenham I generally hope the outcome of both fixtures give me real hope for my club to progress and to hear the same type of noise we experienced for just 5 minutes at Portsmouth (to be fair they actually were very quiet sailors for 85 mins as we actually mesmerised them into submission) regularly at the remaining 2 seasons at the k*ssam and on entering the North Oxford stadium for the first time!

COYY'S.
Ditto you’re not alone there. All next week’s forum will be about the stadium.doubt if the chuckle brothers would have a clue about the playing side of things

Cheltenham
Port Vale
Lincoln
Shrewsbury
Fleetwood
Burton
Exeter

All winnable. I also think that we'll beat Stevenage in the last home game to cement our playoff place.

I wouldn't expect them to, other than to talk about playing budgets and backroom staff to support Des.

Callum Lang v Oxford Utd:

Feb 14th 2021 - Oxford 2-1 Wigan (Lang)
Feb 1st 2022 - Oxford 1-1 Oxford (Lang)
Oct 24th 2023 - Wigan 2-0 Oxford (Lang)
Jan 30th 2024 - Oxford 2-2 Portsmouth (Lang)
March 2nd 2024- Portsmouth 2-1 Oxford (Lang)

What exactly do you mean by 'those fooled by Des'?

To whom are you referring?
This is my beef with him - there's nobody "fooled by Des", just those that know the board will stick with him because of the amount of money they paid to get him. It's not great, but there's no conspiracy.

That and he claims this vision of his is "truth". The man's deluded.
