General The Board & Senior Management

Reporter in "mentions news" shock! I expect I'd be livid if I were you.
I'm not livid Paul. I just thought it was unprofessional.

I'd express it more as: "Football Commentator makes unnecessary dig at club".Generally I think the Radio Oxford team could do with a shake-up.

I tend to prefer listening to the other team's commentary on iFollow as they are generally more enthusiastic about Oxford United

“unnecessary”?

Surely you can see that the club’s communication deserves criticism or do you believe that it is disloyal to do so in a reasonable manner, which that example certainly was.

The RadOx team aren’t perfect, but their enthusiasm for the club is unquestioned, surely?
I increasingly find they share the jaded cynicism of a lot of posters on here.

I don’t think that’s fair, but perhaps they’ve reason to.

We all want to believe that everything is perfect. We (and they) shouldn’t feel impotent to point out when it isn’t.

That’s very different to some of the extreme cases of perpetual and deliberate negativity to be found here.

I'm sorry but I couldn't disagree more with this.

I emphatically disagree with every aspect.

Oddly, I'm in complete agreement with this specific part of your post.

I like it when opposing teams' commentators have no idea who our players are, 'the defender was caught out by that' and big up their favourites 'this is the sort of game Kane loves' as they're substituted. Generally they're far less aware of um football and their team than Jerome and Nick Harris.

Plus. No other team's commentary squad has an out-and-out shill like Peter Rhoades-Boyson.

Of all the things we can complain about as Oxford Fans Radio Oxfords coverage is not one of them, thank god we have them and not some cheerleaders.
I actually think they're a bit too easy on the club most the time. PRB especially but I don't really count him as he's a bit of a clown. If you get upset about Jerome saying "ooh, a bit political" then I'd suggest you might quite fancy North Korea for your next holiday, similar sort of vibe.

Agree that their coverage generally is excellent. I occasionally catch some of other clubs commentary and generally it's night and day in terms of professionalism and the research that's gone into it.

Pretty weird criticism

I'd concentrate your negativety towards the likes of Timmy and Grant who continue to treat us fans like mugs, not Radio Oxford who are one of very few with enough clout to make these muppets sit up and listen.

Jerome and the team are to be commended for pointing out where the club can and should improve.

To say it is unprofessional is to make excuses for our leadership team and enable their mistakes. Don’t shoot the messenger.

As ever in football, we fans deserve better.

Actually, given their, to date, sympathetic and charitable approach towards OUFC, it comes as something of an eye opener that they even consider offering a critical view of the club's communication. They are the media outlet of choice, they are, for want of a better description, "obliged" to report favourably when it comes to OUFC and yet, they dare to voice a negative attitude.

Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

If anyone looks objectively at the way our club is "run" and the strategies around that, and reaches the conclusion that it's actually Radio Oxford who are the problem, then the only outcome I can realistically reach is that you either are Tim Williams, or his mum.

Or they are finally stating the obvious?
In fact, for the sake of the club, it is a positive thing they are calling it out as it will ramp up the pressure on Tim and co.

Would you rather they just sat back and let the club treat us supporters customers with the contempt they currently are doing without anyone challenging them?

Not unprofessional at all, Jerome cares deeply for the club. Nathan not so sure but I’d imagine similar but I know Jerome loves the club & would care if it’s not being run properly. I’d imagine he gets a lot closer than most how badly things are being run. I think it’s fair enough he can comment as he and the broadcast team see fit. They pay for the right to broadcast the games, they can do what they want.

That’s total waffle, Jerome is a lifelong Oxford fan, as is Nick Harris. Not sure about Nathan but if you think they are less enthusiastic about the club than their opposite numbers then you are chatting s**t, respectfully.
