Why are you questioning me on this? I didn't write the article.
I like to think I'm 'aux fait' with some of the history of the club. As my website, https://oxfordkits.com/ will testify.
Oh and just to set the record straight Sarge, you've got your dates wrong too, as the club changed name prior to the 1960/61 season.
Indeed @Briggsy ..... in an Official OUFC announcement from OUFC Head of Marketing, Id like to think it would be proof read before issuing to the public..... I would be interested to know which actual year/season Headington United shirt was intended to be made and offered at £36 ?I think we're just suggesting it's not something to get overly annoyed by, Sarge. Mistakes happen all the time. Bit sloppy but nothing sinister.
I emailed the Club re what appeared to be a valid point from Sarge and have the following reply (which they are happy for me to share):
'1966 refers to the design of the shirt and the fabric used, which is the same as the 1966 World Cup winning shirt.
This is the suppliers description, not ours – though I agree it looks odd alongside the 1986 description. I’ve just reproduced the suppliers descriptions of the kits.
It was NOT intended to be the year! That should have been removed from the description.'
So a minor error, unfortunate but not as seismic as some have suggested. Chillax everyone.
In fact Headington United NEVER won the World Cup although I think Oxford did in 1986 under it's old name.
Hi Wallop. I've had the same explanation from the club. Any chance of editing your posts Sarge to reflect this?
It's the ghost of negative nerps. Has someone pissed on Sarge's cornflakes? Everyday for the last few months?
Well if you think that a week is enough leeway, I bow to your obviously superior judgement.Nonsense. They would have then had earlier dates for paying for the, shirts and storage to sort. Better to get them delivered when you need them rather than tying up cash on stock. Suppliers expect to work to this and it sounds like something unexpected has occurred. I would like the supplier to put their hands up to this.
Jules Rimet Trophy wasn't played for after 1970.
...
With a national newspaper and a very large internet group picking up on the £75 limited edition replicatraing topsShirts 'story'
IMO the OFFICIAL response should have been proof read thoroughly , and several times, before issuing on the OFFICIAL OUFC site
Would be awesome to get this shirt and then to have it signed by some of the old players and then maybe framed.
Should be £12.50 in keeping with the anniversary and admission ....if they were I'd treat myself to one
Hmm is the incoming financial director setting out a fleece the fans approach from the off?
