The "Des in" brigade? He's hardly been here 2 minutes - there's surely no question on his status so far.

Been watching the first season of the Wrexham documentary lately, as the fans start to get disgruntled in Phil Parkinson's first season. Lots of fans assuring others that a manager needs time. Definitely worked out in their case. In other cases it might not. But it's still a truism.
Iโ€™m not sure Des is going to lead a Wrexham-style charge but heโ€™s not going anywhere so itโ€™s a bit soon to divide us into Des in and Des out groups.

Itโ€™s the midfield, isnโ€™t it? We were overrun again in the second half and couldnโ€™t get the ball to the wingers enough.

To be fair he was already here, and if he hadn't got injured, he'd probably be making a difference in these games.

He went back though and then signed him again knowing he was injured for nearly all of the rest of the season, so not the same as an inherited injured player anymore.

Negru made the first goal but unfortunately made a mistake for theirs.

1-1, I think Henry should have come on. He had the bit between his teeth on Tuesday. Seems we will only go for it, if we are behind.

Harris and Rodrigues were pretty decent as was Leigh. Nobody else stood out. ๐Ÿ’ฏ effort by Brannigan as usual but lacked a bit of quality. Dale looks like he will be decent enough.

Not just saying this but while our atmosphere has been poor of late, Reading fans were super quiet today.
Thought Negru, McGuane, Rodrigues & Goodrham were poor today.

Ciaron Brown has been off it for good few weeks now. Time for Thorniley to be given a chance?
Are you sure
Brown has been off for a few
Do you watch much football

I've not read through all of this but one thing that infuriates me is how switched off we are almost constantly. Every single game we get caught out by quick throws and free kicks and very rarely take advantage ourselves. It's another case of us looking disorganised.

We've got players missing who would have made a difference but taking Burey off was an error, the only outlet we have with any pace. Once again the press was really poor, Harris and Rodrigues have a pop closing four players down between them, get played round and no one else has gone too so there's acres of space. If the whole team aren't going to do it then don't bother until your opponents get further forwards or there's a particular player you want to target. It doesn't look like it's worked on at all.

Rodrigues poor again today, often either slows it down or picks the wrong pass. We managed to turn the ball over a few times high up the pitch, mostly through their incompetence, and often it broke down with Ruben. Had a chance to shoot first half but delayed and played it to Burey who was offside, picked the wrong ball when we had a break second half that fortunately made it to Goodrham, played a fairly simple ball into touch and put Dale in the corner when we had space and that's just off the top of my head. The less said about Negru at right back the better, although to be fair I don't know what other options we had bar maybe Dale but that's a hell of an ask.

All very concerning. I've said before that Des has been stitched up in terms of his backroom staff and we've got loads of injuries but I still don't see any plan in possession and we're so soft out of it.
Excellent post joey.
I'm very worried about Des.

No, but it would still have been better had he not got injured at all, so in that sense it's been bad luck for Des.

If you are saying that, then you can claim Stan Mills is among the injured and unavailable for selection as well!

Well, it's inaccurate to say that exactly, as he's not with us any more, but that is also in the "bad luck with injuries" column, yes.

As much as I hated his last 6 months, KR was an excellent manager. His personal issues and public affair were what caused his demise here, his head was not straight.
No KR is not an excellent manager.

A good manager treats his staff well and KR had favourites and left others out in the cold.
I have lost count of the players he signed on or gave longer contracts to that were injured or past their best.
He listened to what agents said rather than going after players the club wanted. If you donโ€™t believe that ask yourself why Thomas left and went to Derby.
He didnโ€™t replace our only defensive midfielder for two years and constantly played midfield players out of position.
He was a bully
His after match comments were an absolute joke
Luckily for him we did have a few players around who could play a bit

I could go on but he definitely was NOT a good manager

He has compounded it by signing him though, weirdest signing I have ever seen in my time watching Oxford, we replaced the injured Edwards with the injured Edwards, donโ€™t think we put that bit down to bad luck.

Canโ€™t get this ODonkor blame thing today.
The team had lost control and the outcome of the game. Long before he came on.
I donโ€™t think anyone is actually blaming Oโ€™Donkor for anything, itโ€™s just that he shouldnโ€™t have been the player we turned to in the last 15 minutes to see the game out.

Henry shouldโ€™ve come on, and used his nous and experience to help us see out the last 15 mins and maybe even provide an assist or score to kill the game off with another goal. Something Oโ€™Donkor simply doesnโ€™t do.

At the moment, Oโ€™Donkor simply isnโ€™t up to playing at this level, and certainly isnโ€™t improving with these poxy little cameos, and it was a poor substitution by Des.

A loan move wouldโ€™ve benefited him a lot more, but even then, I donโ€™t think heโ€™ll end up playing much higher the league 2.

The highlights make you realise what a tame game of football it was. The chances both sides generated were weak efforts.
Looking at that, what on earth was Moore doing for their goal? He just runs as fast back towards his own goal as he can, without actually putting in any sort of challenge or actually blocking off the route to goal. I know Brown puts it in eventually and Negru lost the ball up the pitch, but that goal is mainly Moore's responsibility IMO.

Yes, he got a goal and obviously that is a contribution but there are players out there who score too and who then donโ€™t go missing for the next 90 odd minutes. What does he do ? What did he do today ? Bar the goal, what did he do on Tuesday ? He canโ€™t beat a man on the outside, heโ€™s not that strong and is easily eased off the ball. Heโ€™s a passenger for very large parts of most games.
Unbelievable, what on earth are you on ?
Apart from two excellent runs , tricky play in the box first half and possible two pens the second.
Yep so many other players doing loooaaads more.
Embarrassed for you.

Buckingham is just a poor manโ€™s Gary Waddock.

The only real glimmer for me is the continued successes of Burey on the wing and what looks like a decent player in Dale.

Just seen the Brannegan interview, he looks thoroughly pissed off. Canโ€™t say I blame him.

I hate to say it but I think the appointment of Buckingham (compared to other names on the list) may well come back to bite us.

Possibly not in a great mood given how Blackbird & Greater Leys appeared to be at a standstill after the game.
