Very important game because we could end up remaining outside the playoffs with Stevenage having two games in hand and Blackpool breathing down or necks. Portsmouth have had some poor results this year like us but many games they have grinded out victories and they'll certainly fancy their chances against us tonight. They only seem to struggle against teams with their tales up at that time so we are ripe for them with our current form. 3 defeats in a row and a tough match on Saturday would leave us in a very precarious place and there's really only one playoff spot left realistically.

If Des doesn't get the gameplan right from the off then it's game over.

A bit of positivity from me.

We’ll win tonight, albeit a scrappy affair. 2-1 Harris , Brannigan.

Buoyed by new signings tomorrow ,this is followed up with a comfortable home win at the weekend against Reading.
I will have some of what your on please

Pulling out the half and half scarf tonight - it's hard not to want Mousinho's Pompey to really push on and cement their place at the top of the league.

Hopefully we can bag a consolation goal or two.

But in all seriousness, Burey was a bright spark on Saturday. If Des can switch it up a bit and experiment with some attacking football we might be in with a shout.

2-1 Oxford.

🫤 So you think we will win 2-1, which would put us just 7 points behind Portsmouth with a game in hand... Yet you say you want Portsmouth to cement their place at the top of the league?

Just seven points behind!? Have you watched any of our last 5 games? We're not going to win the league. Even Scotchegg would probably agree with that.

It's hard not to support Mousinho's Portsmouth in times like these. I know a few on here have been watching them on ifollow with genuine admiration.

I doubt Burey can last more than 45 minutes currently though.
If that's the case (and unfortunately I think you are right), then he needs to start. We mustn't be as poor in the first half as we were the other day, Portsmouth will be out of sight by half time.

Four at the back (Leigh, Brown, Moore, Stevens), Smyth as a CDM (we need to try *something*!) with Brannagan and McGuane (RR needs a kick up the a**e) given more freedom to get forward, front three Goodrham, Harris, Burey. And a keeper! RR can come on if we need something later on.

Yes! That's my team too. Though RR isn't really someone who can give you a direct boost from the bench. We really need another fit winger.

I agree.

Will be really pleased for Mous if he got a promotion under his belt at the first attempt. It would also be a middle finger to our MIA board.

Can't imagine a win for us will be too damaging for their chances, whereas for us it will be huge.

Can I just ask why any Oxford united supporters would support Portsmouth?
Mosinho's Portsmouth means absolutely f**k all to me.

Mous, not Portsmouth.

Just the reverse of wanting to see Manning and Robinson f**k up.

I couldn't care less if Mous succeeded or not at Portsmouth 🤷‍♂️ In fact, I'd rather he made a mess of it.

If making a mess of it means them dropping a lot of points in their remaining games against the top 10 teams around us , I would rather (after tonight) they went on a great run.

I know we have our own issues to sort out, but Mous/Portsmouth taking points away from those around us would help. Much more so than say caring about whether the likes of Swindon lose in a different league.
