OUSP News

I'm still trying to work out whether we are getting a discount or not.
Last time I bought a replica kit online for 2021/22 at the start of the season, the shirt was £45, P&P £4.95 and loyalty cash credit £10. so net £39.95.

I used last year's loyalty cash of £9.10 (not sure why this amount) against a Manor Polo shirt.

This year the shirts are £50, and the discount of 10% is only available in store. So net £45.

So the face value cost has gone up 11%, but after the 10% discount is back to the same original price as two years ago but with no loyalty credit.

[edit: Though I do expect prices to have gone up in the intervening two years so it's perhaps not an entirely fair comparison. Also if you are a fan who buys multiple items at the club shop it may be a better offer than the £10 credit. eg shirts for the kids as well]

Unfortunately the cost of shirts have increased but are bang on average for league one.

The 10% off is for all items, all season, so depending on how much you spend will depend on whether you save more than the loyalty credit from before.

a. I live about that far away
b. I don't have any inclination to do the SLA's job for them
c. The secondary role of OUSP is to undermine OxVox as a INDEPENDENT supporters' voice, I will have no part of that

This thread is probably not for you then. However, OxVox do attend all OUSP meetings so maybe you can raise concerns through them.

Concur.

OK, it's me that's confused. I guess because almost the only thing I ever buy from the shop is a shirt!

Makes it even easier then:

Why not just add a field to the checkout that says "If you are a Season Ticket holder and wish to use your 10% discount on this order, please enter your fan number here. You will be refunded 10% of the total (not including p+p costs) before dispatch." And then the shop staff just refund that 10%. Sure, it's a bit manual but then they have to package up the shirts anyway, it isn't as if the whole thing is automated!

Hardly difficult to apply a 10% discount for an online purchase these days!

Must be great being the SLO and having a "free filter" between your desk and the supporters you purport to liaise with.

Just wanted to add that @OUSP Secretary has been doing sterling work on the PPP (perennial pigeon poo) problem, and the cleaning work commissioned by club/stadco appears to be slowly getting on top of it (so to speak). Please continue to pass on any photos evidencing any continued problem to her, or indeed to OxVox & we'll pass them on.

I think the 'perennial' bit of this issue is the tricky aspect though. To keep the place remotely clear of it will require a regular plan of action, inspection and cleaning. Yes, it's an outdoor stadium and as such is vulnerable - but it should be managed better, for people's health as much as aesthetics. The same goes in my opinion for other issues such as the toilets. Summed up by someone behind me (probably a newcomer) overheard at a recent match saying "This ground doesn't look cared for."

Anyway, the following paragraph is from a recent email to OxVox members. We've raised the health aspects mentioned here with the Safety Advisory Group, referencing specific sources we are aware of, for example https://www.paragongroup.co.uk/pigeon-droppings/ .

The ongoing inadequate cleaning of the stadium was again evident at the first home game of the season. We have taken pictures and collated complaints from others and have shared them with OUSP who are also working hard on this issue. We are also bringing this up at the SAG (Safety Advisory Group) meetings relating to the ground, which we attend. Bird mess and even dead birds hanging in the netting in the corners of the stands is not acceptable and poses a potential health hazard. The woeful state of some of the toilets is also unacceptable. This work rests on the shoulders of the stadium company but we are working with the club to make sure more is done. Please report any problems you find to OUSP who are taking the lead on this, or to us here at OxVox, and we will pass them on. We deserve better.

Common sense would tell anybody that supporting the accountable, democratic, long established & independent voice of the supporters was a better use of time & energy.

Unfortunately somebody needed to tick a Crouch report box and created something else. 🤷‍♂️

I wasn't entirely convinced by the idea of a supporters panel but writing it off as a gimmick when it's attracted enough supporters to be viable for 2 seasons is hardly a damning indictment of it, especially when it's attracting people that clearly aren't interested in OxVox, and I have a lifetime membership.

It's all positive engagement and improving accessibility for fans is something that we have to do as part of the the club growing up if we want to meet the aspirations in the new stadium of maintaining Championship status. Of course, I'd love more people to join OxVox and ultimately feel they have the ability to link in with organsiations that are external to the club in a way the OUSP can't, as well as not being essentially facilitated by the club itself. I dont understand why you wouldn't want more people involved in positive change whether they feel that OxVox represents them in the way they want or not?

Enough volunteers (fair play to them) that there hasn't been a need to hold any form of vote?

As previously, and in my humble opinion, it would have been more beneficial/productive if their time & effort was used under the umbrella of the existent supporters body.

However that wouldn`t tick the strategic recommendations box for the Club as an organisation ref the Crouch report.

there's a few 'significant' meetings on the evening of 7th Sept!

Stand United meeting - on Zoom

KPC meeting - open to the public and on Zoom

OUSP meeting

Good to hear car park maintenance is finally taking place.
There was no mention of repairs to the car park lighting- many of the lamp posts have only one bulb working.
Also the repainting of the main zebra crossing, used by many fans, from the Vue to the car park.

While attending the stadium event, I spoke with Adam Benson (Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer) and found him to be really impressive. He acknowledged that things were a real mess when he arrived and that he and his team have barely touched on the issues that exist.

He said that the season ticket packages and the welcome packs were the first priority, and the general feeling is that these were well received. He has also looked at the comms that go out and how we launched the different kits and other initiatives.

There was acknowledgement that you can't always please everyone, all the time, but he is committed to ensuring that everyone is heard, whether it's a moan about something (which he expects) but also when things go well. The new stadium will be designed with excellent fan engagement at the heart of it, but we can't just ignore this for 3 years because we don't like the Kassam. Improvements have to happen now.

We (OUSP) are meeting with Adam formally next month so I'll be happy to collate issues for now and the future via the forum if you'd like to message me or OUSP directly. I'll share this again nearer the time.

If you can't get to the exhibition, then please complete the feedback form online. It's important to get your views into the planning mix.
