Perkins could well be quality, but I think the reason we brought him in was cover for the entire front 4. He's good on the ball and knowing we need to rotate he will get plenty of minutes this season. At minimum off the bench but he has the opportunity to become a starter with good performances.

Still see some using the Perkins signing to question why we're looking still looking for an experienced striker, which really surprises me. Any injury or suspension to Harris currently has us relying on an 18 year old and 19 year old who haven't played 40 mens games between them. I thought we were done with the Robinson days of misbalanced recruitment and leaving too much pressure on young lads coming into mens football for the first time?!

Thankfully we're still pushing for some more experience up top, whether that be Marriott or someone else. It will allow to rotate and stay fresh throughout the season, whilst allowing the younger lads to settle in without immense pressure on their shoulders.
I think the point is, if we sign Marriott, presumably you’d expect him to play, say, 40-50% of the available minutes, given we’d paid a big fee for him. You’ve then got Harris who has started every game so far, suddenly being rotated in and used on the bench - fine. But also Perkins who’s come here expecting game time, who has either got to start and bench one of those two, or just always be a sub. And then GO’D on top of that…

You're soooo close to a breakthrough there...

What is this obsession with being proven at this level and fox in the box?

Matt Taylor was both of these and the rigours of the modern game quite obviously passed him by within 12 months! Within the next 12 moths he probably won't be playing league football.

You can bet that any Liam manning signing won't be signed based around a gut feeling. It will be based on collected game data and personal attributes.

If they ( Fleetwood ) don’t sell Marriot I think they may wage issues as their owner/backer has been banged

Neither were Beadle, Stevens, Negru, Mills, Goodrham and O’Donkor before we kicked a ball this season. But we’re currently top of the table.

You could add Harris and Rodrigues to that list, we have a young team. The lad is highly rated enough that Leeds stole him off West Ham, while that doesn't always guarantee anything he must have something about him.

Not exactly. I mentioned that Perkins can cover the entire front 4, his minutes aren't dependable on Marriott or Harris. He'll get minutes rotating and covering up to 5 positions.

I think we need to collectively get over this fear of youth and inexperience, especially when talking about loan signings from current or recent Premier League clubs.

Harris, Perkins and O’Donkor are our strikers, we won’t be signing Marriott.

We also have a range of attacking players who are fluid in their positions, which I really want to stress is much different than playing Forde as a CM and Hanson at RB for example.
It's not fear, it's sensible planning and balanced recruitment.

GOD has lots of potential but isn't quite ready to a first choice striker in a promotion chasing side.

Perkins has only recently played 10-15 games as a striker at PL2 level, he's played much deeper previously so isn't just inexperienced as a footballer but also as a striker too.

I said he could be absolutely fantastic for us and a real breakthrough, but equally could be as effective as Konate.

We have the budget to sign another experience forward, it would be negligent to just assume the other 2 strikers will cut the mustard if Harris gets a serious injury or can't play 50 games this season.

From what I’d read online he’s primarily a striker with good hold-up play, but you could be right. I guess we’ll see what Manning thinks by the end of the week…
