He's a winger not a striker
Can play LW, ST and RW, a bit like Joseph and Harris. We are seeing the need for versatility in Manning's system constantly with all of his signings (accept Beadle of course).

Very brief summary: In 22/23, he made 21 Scottish Premiership appearances and got 2 goal contributions, though he only played 325 minutes.

Seems a bit Winnall like. Not as prolific but, on the face of it, the odd decent season amongst a fair few ordinary ones. We will need the odd player who's been around the block though. If he's cheap and fit then why not.

Welcome Mark, he comes with decent reviews, having played a fair bit in the Championship, a good age and occasional international so plenty of positives here.

Still feel we need another reliable goalscorer, at the moment there's no one I'd be confident saying will get double figures in the current squad, loads of players who will contribute a handful but no out and out goalscorers among the squad.
Loads of players contributing a handful is where its at.

Really curious to see what formation and style we're going to be playing.

We've now got a whole host of really exciting looking forwards - Harris, Rodriguez, Browne, Murphy, Goodrham, Bodin - but none of them seem suited to a traditional 'Hold the ball up, battle the CB, fox in the box"-type #9 role (only GOD - and I think we all agree that he ought to be headed out on loan to work on his finishing seasoning).

Either we're still looking to sign that player.......or we're going to be playing something a lot more fluid, with much quick and intricate passing and movement, a lot of balls down the channels and likely an incessant high press.

Put in this way - with our current squad make-up, I can't see any of our goal kicks travelling more than 10-15 yards, because we're not going to be doing much with anything lamped down the middle!
At last, someone with a more lateral approach to our transfer business from all those screaming on here for an ‘out and out striker’. Who knows what system or formation we’ll play? I don’t, but I trust this management team to sign the right players for the right system.

To be fair, I was calling for an out-and-out striker earlier in the week!

But the more quality forwards we sign that are not traditional strikers (especially when we're giving them the #9 jersey!), the likelier it seems that Manning has decided that there's just not enough good out-and-out strikers out there on the market at a manageable cost. And therefore we're going to try something different.

Could be the exciting return of Oxelona (though could also be an epic disaster)!

If its a relatively cheap deal for Watkins I wouldn't be adverse to it. Could be a useful squad member and adds experience.

Doesn’t sound like the type of signing we’ve now come to expect 😂, nor one of the potentially exciting ones we are after that Mark Harris alluded to in his interview?

Does Marley have any fried chicken shop connections?

Based on the various photo and video content that has been posted since pre-season started the current squad numbers appear to be:
  1. Beadle
  2. Long

  3. Thorniley
  4. Moore
  5. McEachran

  6. Brannagan
  7. Harris
  8. Bodin
  9. Browne

  10. Eastwood
  11. Smyth
  12. Stevens
  13. Brown
  14. Henry
  15. McGuane
  16. Goodrham
  17. Rodriguez
  18. McGinty
  19. Murphy
The interesting thing is that a few players have had their numbers moved around, be it closer/further away from the 11. Goodrham now has 19 instead of 27 and Smyth has been wearing 14 rather than 25, while the likes of Findlay has had his number given to Thorniley and been handed 35. Obviously Baldock’s number 10 shirt has also been transferred to Bodin, which opens up 7.

You can then cross reference the list against the white board that was visible in the McEachran signing video. Baldock and Seddon weren’t on the board at all, nor Yanic and Findlay, so it’ll be interesting to see if either of the latter two can be moved on. Clearly the first two already have been, but the club aren’t saying anything for some reason.

Dot counting has a rival. And it features snazzier anoraks.

Could someone from the anorak brigade present the squad in this format with their ages listed to the right.

Blackpool Forum makes for nice reading :ROFLMAO:
