I'm sure that when Robinson was so excited about a player coming in, he was talking about Thomas-Asante. We were certainly very close to bringing a striker in, and it looked all done one night, but collapsed the following day.

On this, and Ryan Hardie, I don't think we could have done any more. We made very competitive bids, and out bid a number of league one clubs. But we were never going to compete with a Championship club looking to go back up to the PL this season, and Plymouth were simply not selling Hardie.

I'm not saying that we got everything right, but there were players that were properly identified and scouted (best of league 1 and 2), they would have both strengthened our squad and offer a real investment opportunity, and we offered very good financial packages. That wasn't enough unfortunately.
In that case then why? A simple and honest question WHY?

But the money is still there we know over the next year or so we are going up I was born in Kidlington I took my Son around there the other week and Oxford it was always special but its now amazing a new ground it will one day be in the premier league and be where it should be
A good dream sir

Robinson didn't want to openly talk about a player we had lost out on, especially as there was still a slim chance it could be recovered. He certainly wasn't talking about Joseph.

What do you mean that an enquiry was only a phone call to Plymouth? What did you expect? A hand delivered note?? Of course it was a phonecall, that's how bids are put in - and we very much did put a significant bid in.
Read @Mellowyellow post again, Nathan did ask him if Joseph was who he was wetting himself over and he said yes.
So now with your usual B*****s how good Robinson is you are now saying he lied!
You obviously didn’t listen to the interview. Grow some B*****s and admit you haven’t a clue and you’re making it up about that Joseph wasn’t who he was talking about unless of course Robinson was lying. If the latter than he can do now mine wants a bullshitter for a manager.

Not sure we needed a 4th striker. We have 3 decent strikers already. I'm also pretty sure that any club wanting to loan us a young player would question how much game time they would get after baldock returns in 3 or 4 weeks. Also, any midfielders would think the same. We have 11 senior midfielders.
Some are on the treatment table that’s the problem.

doesn t matter. karl would rather sign over the hill players like jones and Murphy.
I see being proved wrong on your New Era obsession has moved you on to constantly using Jones and Murphy as your examples of bad signings etc.

Though I think you'd better check your phrases in school on Monday.

Jones at 24 and Murphy at 27 are definitely not "over the hill".

Over 200 posts in a few days - have you nothing better to do?

How many people does a transfer tie up?
Can the recruitment team work on multiple transfers at the same time?
In all honesty, I have no idea how we do it.
Multiple definitely are possible but I'm not sure who we get to do the paperwork part - whether it's the actual recruitment team or people like Mick Brown.

You keep repeating that we put in “significant“ and “decent“ bids for multiple players,
How on God’s earth do you know what was bid, or even if an official bid was even submitted? You don’t know, you‘re second guessing, and basically talking shite.
Even if/when we do ever pay for players, it’s always an “undisclosed amount”.
The only people who know are the owner’s of OUFC and the owner’s of the club we are trying to buy from.

Well ok you know better. I’m just going on the evidence available to a normal outsider person
Every manager in the game is liked by some players and disliked by others, so it doesn’t make him special either way. Some players signed because they wanted to play for him, some (I know of three) specifically didn’t want to sign because they think he’s a knob. He is just like everybody else.

It’s Mick.

Yes I’m sure you’re right. I mean, he can certainly come across as a knob, but some players seem to really like him

The owners would have to break the rules to compete with Bournemouth they did and if we did with the right manager then yes we could, but our owners seem more prudent than there spend thrift owner……that’s the difference.
Well in league 1, if they wanted they could write off as much spending as they want as it doesn’t come up FFP until you get into the championship, that’s why Sunderland,Sheffield Wednesday etc managed to get away with it. Sheffield Wednesday alone have lost £124m over the last 4 or 5 years. Not saying they would or should. But saying we can’t be as big as Bournemouth and be stable at championship level isn’t correct. Because they have an old ageing stadium with no chance if redevelopment. Exactly like our situation currently in fact without the stadium rent.

That's incredibly naive if you think it's only the owners who know when bids are made and for how much.

I must admit, I thought with 3 weeks to go before the beginning of the season we had undoubtedly had a horrible window but the signings of Murphy and Findlay alongside keeping Brannagan made it suddenly a very good one. With Joseph coming in and looking good, youth players getting games and now a much needed right back it’s still pretty decent but the injuries are the tough part to swallow alongside inexplicably not getting a decent left back. Apart from those negatives, I think now the window is closed, its important that we pack out the ground and get behind the Yellows and drop the negativity. Our season can really kick on with a win tomorrow!!
Cheers Karl!

I don’t think theres much reason to believe that, the team seem pretty united and players have stayed when they could have left, and returned after leaving. Plenty of other stuff you can throw at him if you’re so inclined.
6 spaces unused if you count the two players he quite publicly stated he wanted to sent out on loan. That’s unforgivable.

You're right, Mick Brown does all of the paperwork although I believe others are now assisting, it's pretty much in his hands. He's Oxford through and through, but a club with our ambitions shouldn't be reliant on him alone.

Was going to say, people have their sources and let’s face it. Some people within the club obviously let little things slip or don’t mind telling people things even if it gets repeated. That’s just modern football for a club like ours.

Personally wouldn’t be surprised if certain players were promised that reinforcements were going to be brought in before they signed said new deals, whether that is true or not but don’t think they would sign a long term contract just for the money that they could of easily got elsewhere.
