That's OK then, as long as we tried, you sound like a primary school teacher on sports day.
If you were Thomas-Asante would you join a L1 side or a top half Championship club if you had the choice?
Probably 3 or 4 times the salary for a start
I'm not overly positive or negative about things as they stand for us
Just at a time of life when you have to stay calm, stop kidding yourself and try to see all sides of the story

I'm sure that when Robinson was so excited about a player coming in, he was talking about Thomas-Asante. We were certainly very close to bringing a striker in, and it looked all done one night, but collapsed the following day.

On this, and Ryan Hardie, I don't think we could have done any more. We made very competitive bids, and out bid a number of league one clubs. But we were never going to compete with a Championship club looking to go back up to the PL this season, and Plymouth were simply not selling Hardie.

I'm not saying that we got everything right, but there were players that were properly identified and scouted (best of league 1 and 2), they would have both strengthened our squad and offer a real investment opportunity, and we offered very good financial packages. That wasn't enough unfortunately.

Whilst that sounds amazing, we didn’t need a marquee striker signing with Taylor/Joseph/Baldock at the club.

We needed top class defensive recruits so it allowed us to keep our attacking style.

Due to the lack of that we’ve changed our style & you’ve seen the difference. It’s a hard watch now. It’s not free flowing. All because we’ve built a house without foundations.
Players like Eastwood, Long, Seddon & Gorrin even Henry aren’t good enough to be starting with our ambitions.

433: GK RB Moore Findlay LB, CDM McGuane Brannagan, Murphy Joseph Wildschut

352: GK, Moore Findlay Brown, RWB McGuane Brannagan LWB, Browne, Taylor Baldock

doesn t matter. karl would rather sign over the hill players like jones and Murphy.

Lots of clubs have had a miserable window - see what Coventry fans are saying. However we did have an excellent "war chest" and it has not been used wisely. We were not chasing the right players and that is at the door of KR.
The ones we chased were too good? We need to go for worse players!!

Right my take on this transfer window fwiw.
Now before 23:00 last night I was fighting Mr Egg on who was the most positive about OUFC.
Now, I'm more Mr Kip.
If we achieve top 12 (if you can call it achive) I will say we got away with this season.
I brought into this season as I do every season about what we can achieve, I buy the shirts, I buy the tickets, I travel to see my beloved yellows when I can.
We were promised so much this transfer window, for the life of me I don't know where we are heading.
Rant over,
Now more than ever the boys need us. KR and the rest of the management team have let us and the boys down.
Now is not the time for squabbling and insulting each other,we are 1 we are yellows, WE ARE OXFORD UNITED.

do it early then. Sick of the excuses and then we have to settle for sub standard injured players

Yes, this.

In fact, I am holding Karl personally responsible for not clapping a chloroform-soaked hanky over Thomas-Asante’s face, then shoving him in the back of a transit van then hot-footing back down the M6 before his agent had even noticed that some Championship clubs might also be prepared to pay the release fee.

Disgraceful management. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Sorry, robinson himself when asked by Nathan if the striker/player he was wetting himself over was Joseph, to which he said yes.
As someone has said previously, the Hardie saga was simply a phone call made by the club to Plymouth. The club, then put it about that they were looking at him. A little sad really.

A while ago I suggested that perhaps players didn't want to come and play under KR.

I now believe that there is more than a suggestion in that theory.

This season is the last chance saloon for KR and he's already changed his underwear.
I don’t think theres much reason to believe that, the team seem pretty united and players have stayed when they could have left, and returned after leaving. Plenty of other stuff you can throw at him if you’re so inclined.

Robinson didn't want to openly talk about a player we had lost out on, especially as there was still a slim chance it could be recovered. He certainly wasn't talking about Joseph.

What do you mean that an enquiry was only a phone call to Plymouth? What did you expect? A hand delivered note?? Of course it was a phonecall, that's how bids are put in - and we very much did put a significant bid in.

Not sure we needed a 4th striker. We have 3 decent strikers already. I'm also pretty sure that any club wanting to loan us a young player would question how much game time they would get after baldock returns in 3 or 4 weeks. Also, any midfielders would think the same. We have 11 senior midfielders.

At least our name is in the hat for jan and next summer when he's out of contract. Dont see a problem with laying a marker down. If he goes higher like asante then so be it

It was £750k wasn’t it?

Come on Scotchers, you‘re only going by what’s already been posted on here, but making out you know all about it. Fair play to you, wish I had the cheek to be as ITK as you are!
