Manager/Coach Karl Robinson.

If you look at his managerial record in detail, it looks like the first 12/18 months at all his clubs have been vg, but then during the latter part of the 2nd or early in the third season the results begin to fall away and don’t recover. Sacked at Motherwell as they lost both legs in Europa qualifying to Sligo!

Seems like he’s a Mourinho, does a job for a season or two but then early in season 3 his sides just no longer perform!
Alexander out!!

Things might be bad, but Gareth Ainsworth??? Really???

If that long haired tramp turned up at our club mine would be another season ticket in the bin. I have no desire to watch his brand of "football" (irrelevant of results) nor sign up to his philosophy of football and life.

What next? Steve Evans? Graham Westley? Akinfenwa as player coach? Have some f*****g pride in yourselves, we're Oxford United, and we can do better than that.

There would be good managers young and old who would be very interested in the Oxford United job in the event that it became available.
...a decent number of people have such little faith in the club and see it as somehow incapable of attracting anybody of value.
Have a bit of pride and belief in your club.

"Hi, is that Mark Warburton/Darren Ferguson/Graham Alexander/Mark Bonner/any number of proven managers at this level (or up and coming managerial talents)?"

"Hi there, yes it is"

"Great, we're in a bit of a situation here. Despite consistently challenging in the top half of League One and spending an awful lot of money this Summer we've started the season terribly. We're confident that we've got the basis of a decent squad and that a new manager could organise them in such a way as to get results straight away. We've got 2 of the most naturally gifted central midfielders in League One, a Scottish international Centre-Back and a striker who consistently scores 20-odd goals a season at this level. We've also got plenty of money left in the pot so if you have 3 or 4 players you particularly wanted to shoot for - we could absolutely make that happen and swiftly. Of course, should we be in and around the Top 6 in January we would again make further significant funds available. We're desperate for promotion - we've got a new stadium on the horizon and the two go hand-in-hand. We're looking for someone to seize this opportunity and work with the fantastic framework that's already in place but bring a degree of professionalism, organisation and tactical nous to the role. This is a massive opportunity for such a manager. Do you think this would be of interest?"

"I'm getting in the car now".

God forbid that if ever Gareth Ainsworth walked through the door as our manager, my season ticket would go straight in the bin, bad enough playing Wycombe twice without having to watch that every week.
I definitely could not tolerate that brand of football however I hate to say it but he’s managed to put together a squad with a good composition and cover which Robinson has struggled to do aside from previously bloating the wings. They have strikers aplenty plus they can revert between wingbacks and attacking wingers with the same players whereas our ones can’t defend or go forward!

I can’t see Ainsworth being successful anywhere else and I can’t see Wycombe going further without his services. He has definitely built a solid outfit with them though that Robinson has failed to do in recent years and now we are paying for it being depleted and desperately short of players in critical areas.

“Oh, and by the way, we can give you a very healthy salary.”

Why the f**k didn’t you mention how much the players care and are willing to run around? You didn’t even tell them about the Oxy across the car park.

You would make a dreadful chief exec.

They played a 35 yo winger as striker against Barnsley and right back at centre back in previous games . Squad isn't big but they do a job well.

God forbid we defend properly and over achieve.

I want to know the outcome of MM going of on Saturday, as when he went down themat looked a lot more than cramp.
I saw one article describing it as a 'knock' which I find very hard to believe unless he bashed into some invisible force in the centre circle. Looked like a tear of sorts and a bad one at that.

I may be in a minority, but I think Ainsworth has done a brilliant job on what he has got. It could well be that he would change his playing style if he had a bigger budget. He can certainly organise a team very well, and defensively is streets ahead of KR.

Don’t hold your breath, Bazzer! Or even believe anything you hear from the club about the injury when the news finally does emerge.

Yes but his teams cheat. He can f**k off, we are Oxford United not some shitty bunch of scrappers

There's separating the job he's done to the product it offers.

There's a respect from me for the first part. He's made essentially a club with a ceiling of League 1 into something that can compete to go up into the second tier. Not bad going. He recruits well and there's a squad togetherness of 'us vs the world'.

That's where it ends for me. Normally the journey is better than the destination but with Wycombe it isn't - the football is horrible, the gamesmanship is prevalent and the ego from the manager is grating. I wouldn't wish for that style to come to our club at all.
