Chairman Takeover now Old Car Chat

We may be a generation apart but my Great Grandparents (Stopps) and Grandparents prior to the Bell lived in St. Andrews Lane. They worked on Church Farm. I went to St. Andrews primary for a very short period.
At Andrews, great school.

Er, where are the new Indonesian characters? This thread seems to be all about RO.

@admin can you tidy this thread up. Gone very off topic.

I think another barrier hitting the 16-25 demographic nowadays is how difficult it is to get a 9-5 Monday to Friday job as a youngster. Most in that demographic are working in bars, restaurants and supermarkets that tend not to like their staff being unavailable on a Saturday afternoon! I'm 26 and until last year missed a lot of Saturday games for this exact reason, and most people I know are in similar spots. It's much easier for a lot of youngsters to support the top prem sides when they play on Sunday mornings or Wednesday nights half the time. Better them than me, mind. I'll take OUFC games against Northampton and Lincoln over Liverpool v Man City every time.
I'm 26 and there used to be a pretty large group of late teens/early 20s supporters at the core of the away atmosphere back in conference days and into the football league days. I think the ultras used to knit it all together to be honest, I wouldn't know if we have a large section of younger support these days?

God I feel old

Back to subject, Tiger hasn’t had a majority holding in the Singapore company for quite a while. Depending on who you consider may be acting together and with educated guesses the “Indonesians” own 40%, the “Thais” own 50% and mystery Knightsbridge (Geicke?) the other 10%. Apologies for quotes and racial grouping etc.

I know that Tiger's comments in the programme notes may not have been entirely his words (Chris Williams does a remarkable job!!), but it felt a little barbed. Of courses, the actually details are subject to speculation, but I'm not sure that there is much doubt that the wider board will be increasing their stake at the expense of Tiger which will likely mean that he will have a supporting role in the future.

Knowing a little more than the average bear, I'm not sure there is any hostility amongst the board, and I believe Tiger is readily welcoming greater investment, but to me, that statement sounds a little defensive.

On the back of the Oxvox statement of denial, I wonder if saying nothing may have been more appropriate rather than saying something that creates speculation. Although, as the only one raising this, maybe it's just my perspective and an unusually negative one at that!! That lost hour must be creeping up on me!!!

You know more than the average bear? You should have said earlier.

If they were silent on this subject, they would be criticised for being so. Also, when they’re told things in confidence, they aren’t in a position to run to the nearest forum and regurgitate to make themselves look like above-average bears.

I've said all of this before. It just feels like the tone of these two statements have been a little defensive and I just felt that they could have been presented in a more positive way. Nothing to panic about, just my opinion!

I don't know about "barbed", I took Tiger's comments as more of an attempt to temper some of expectations that have been growing since the initial announcement.
