National News The Brexit Thread πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί

Underdeclaring shipment values on customs invoices is common practice - some customers would instruct us as to the amount they wanted put on the invoice!

Didn't think zero was a valid amount though - our practice was to put a Β£1/$1 minimum.

Very dangerous practice.

Once Customs come knocking itβ€˜s rather a nasty shock when they drill down and compare purchase orders to invoices to payments. 😱😱

Spot the odd one out....

Never said it was right, just what happens. With the millions of pieces of freight that cross borders every year, 99% are rubber stamped through - except the bloody Swiss who would quarantine a shipment if you missed a full stop off the end of a sentence - or put too many ;)..........

Beware of other fools who either haven`t read the full agreement or can`t understand that a country can negotiate a unique deal.
They may also not understand that the benefits may take time to work through rather than happen in 3 weeks especially after 4 years were wasted pandering to the minority and generally fudging about.
Lest we forget we were shackled to it for 34 ****ing years. :)
Benefits ? I don’t think I’ve heard heard any of you lot saying what they will be, beyond abstractions, slogans, and emojis.

As was said, it’s 23 days since we fully severed our membership.
Let’s review this in 23 years time .

Is that 23 years less the four and a half years we've had to prepare? Just checking for a friend.

"You lot" ? That`ll be the majority of those who voted then? :) <--- emoji to enhance a fact.

Was it Nelson Mandela who said "It`s a long walk to freedom" ? <--- slogan.

Nobody said the benefits would materialise over night, in the same way it was never said that the grasp of the EU would attempt to pull everyone into a US of Europe but that is what they want and are heading towards.

It produces nothing, redistributes wealth it doesn`t create, after taking it`s cut, and is a pointless layer of governance trying to make one size fit all.

Like the regulation the benefits will evolve over time, give it three decades and see if we want back in.... if it still exists. <---- abstraction.

We know the Mogg has said 50 years.

So you have no idea either

Lets start small..... even if it is big.

From the article you may notice the EU medicines regulator has yet to give their approval.
The MHRA and NHS got on with it hence we have delivered almost 6 million vaccine shots in 3 weeks.

Hungary (EU Member) are taking a load of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine because they can`t wait.

That could have been us.......

Assuming we didn't rush the approval through out of desperation/political point scoring (bearing in mind we have the worst covid stats in Europe and the approval came back in about 10 minutes).

Throughout all of this HMG has taken the approach that they know better than all of the collective minds and experience of Europe and time and time again that approach has been proven disastrous.
