I didn’t use to mind the back and forth possession football across our back four as last season it would eventually lead to some space opening up for a more creative midfield players (Branaghan, Henry, Fosu, Browne, Baptiste) or either Dickie or Moore could carry the ball out and look to open up the play going forward.

This year it looks ponderous and more like we don’t really know what to do with it or how we are going to create space and pace. Our midfield simply adds to the back and forth (Gorrin and Kelly) and rarely provides that bit of creative flare. Loss of Branaghan is unfortunate, sale of Fosu and Baptiste a financial reality for a selling club, Browne was a “nice to have” and Henry is suffering a classic loss of form - partly based on always looking to feed Taylor, but failing. So that leaves us with no playmakers of quality or reliability.

Agyei, Forde, Hall good squad players but no more. Oh for a Maguire, Whyte, ODowda, McDonald etc.......

i agree - deadball contributions have been excellent - but doesn’t unlock defences with a killer pass or out run a defender.
