So no announcement today then?
You act surprised. So no announcement today then?
No mention of transfers from Robinson's latest interview. Perhaps he will be asked following the Accrington game.So no announcement today then?
We’ve taken too many gambles already this window, with too many “rough diamonds” “ones for the future“ and unfit players, and can’t afford to take another gamble on Maddison, who sounds like he’d not only come with a lot of potentially disruptive baggage, but would also not be match fit.
When will we learn, we need players who are mentally and physically up to the job NOW, not after weeks of molly coddling and tummy tickling.
A couple of gambles is fine, but our squad is desperate need of some tried and tested pros
It would fit in under the same umbrella as the other category of players we have brought in, in this poor window of “rough diamonds” “ones for the future“ and "unfit players". He would go under the new category of "Disruptive character." The icing on the cake really, maybe apart from the journeyman CB, looking for his last pay cheque, the keystone cops are currently hot on the heals of trying to recruit..
Church of England as well preferably!Hopefully we'll find plenty of established league one/championship players, between say 25 and 28 years old, with a full preseason, competitive game time, and no history of injuries, are good eggs with flawless characters, present a resale value and are available within the restricted wage budgets, and have no previous links with Karl Robinson!
Even then I'm sure you'd still find something to moan about!!
What have Bristol Rovers and Gillingham done thats been so good over the last 2 or 3 years then?Looking at our protracted attempts to sign players, the markets we shop in, and the many players with fitness or other issues we’ve signed, it’s fairly clear we are at a financial disadvantage compared to even modest rivals like Bristol Rovers and Gillingham. Which is fine, we’re quite small and don’t own our ground, and it makes our recent achievements even more impressive. But the club should maybe be a bit more subdued in some of the claims they make about who we’ll sign.
I mean they’ve apparently snapped up quite a few decent looking players while we’ve struggled to get signings wrapped up.What have Bristol Rovers and Gillingham done thats been so good over the last 2 or 3 years then?
Struggled to get signings wrapped up? ?I mean they’ve apparently snapped up quite a few decent looking players while we’ve struggled to get signings wrapped up.
Well maybe, but if you read my original post about markets and unfit players ... we don’t, or can’t, sign many strong established players from similar clubs to us. Which is either because we can’t or because we’re cleverer than that.Struggled to get signings wrapped up? ?
Brannagan
Cooper
Clare
McGaune
Winnall
Osei
Taylor
Asonganyi

You are talking absolute fart.
I agree. I think we could all accept our restricted financial position, and adjust our expectations accordingly, but it's difficult when we keep getting told we're gonna sign players who are "as good as it gets at this level" "a record fee" "record wages" etc etcLooking at our protracted attempts to sign players, the markets we shop in, and the many players with fitness or other issues we’ve signed, it’s fairly clear we are at a financial disadvantage compared to even modest rivals like Bristol Rovers and Gillingham. Well why would a similar club to us, sell their prized assets to a competitor? It doesn't make footballing, or business sense. The money we could offer them would be small time compared to clubs that are higher up the footballing food chain. Keep the player and hold out hope that one day, they may attract that level of interest.Well maybe, but if you read my original post about markets and unfit players ... we don’t, or can’t, sign many strong established players from similar clubs to us. Rovers sold Clarke Harris and brought a striker who scored 4 league goals last season!I mean they’ve apparently snapped up quite a few decent looking players while we’ve struggled to get signings wrapped up.
I really hope the players on that list come good, and we have another great season, but from what I've seen so far, and in pre season, the only players I'm confident about are Brannagan and Taylor, who to be fair to the club, were great bits of business, even if they are struggling for form at the moment, and potentially Cooper.Brannagan

It's been best to take with a pinch of salt for a long time, whether from Tiger or KR. Remember "Three in a week gate". You forgot, "going to get business done early as well"
I did like "as good as it gets at this level" though, pure tripe!

if Sam Winnall stays fit, you don’t think he’s as good as it gets at this level? It's been best to take with a pinch of salt for a long time, whether from Tiger or KR. Remember "Three in a week gate". You forgot, "going to get business done early as well"
