Transfer News Transfer window 2020/21

I love some of the optimism regarding our players, but the way I see it is that the likes of Dickie, Brannagan, and Taylor still have much to achieve in L1. They were the spine of our team last season and we didn't get promotion. We were very poor in the play offs and I think currently we would really struggle in the champ...even with those three at the club.

We need to improve if we want to reach the levels of Cov last season. I am encouraged by the signings so far but imo we need another couple of real ballers on the books before we are ready.

Was our playing squad worse than Wycombe's?

I think we’re almost better suited to the champ than we are L1 - in terms of how we like to play. Our weakness seems to be when we get our muscled by direct physical sides. If you think about how we did against better teams in the cup, it shows that a bit. I genuinely believe getting promotion is almost harder than it would have been to stay up in the championship had we have been promoted.

I can see Dickie not being sold for a bit as window closes late.

How many years we been saying that tho it was the same under Appleton & Wilder any team who puts 10 behind the ball & time wastes with the likes of Wycombe Stevenage look to do we’ve always struggled to break them down same goes for any physical team we come up against Rotherham & Burton being a good example last season

Regarding the lad from France, perhaps KR meant was surprised he was able to get him !
Brentford manage to pick up some great players from the French lower leagues, maybe we are surprised he hadn’t already been picked up like you say.

Does anybody know if it’s just, international clearance holding up the other two announcements.

We were 1 missed chance off going up and were the form team before the season got cut short

And obviously our team isn’t good enough for the Championship, no team that goes up doesn’t strengthen

this just seems like pointless and frankly misplaced negativity

We did actually beat Wycombe at home and Rotherham away.

I said the same thing to somebody recently. I think if we had won at Wembley then the style of play in the Championship combined with the type of player we would’ve been able to bring in - higher quality loans etc - we would’ve given a lot of teams a good game. Especially because we would’ve assumed the underdog role pretty much all season and a lot of teams may well have turned up expecting to win. I also firmly believe we would’ve seriously invested on the permanent signings side as well.

We’ll just have to get the job done this season instead.
