General Jan transfer window

It looks as though Yates will be very much part of Rotherham's squad for the remainder of the season. Bringing him back and including him in their squad certainly doesn't indicate they're on the verge of selling him.

Yates just came on in the 92nd minute. So it's back to Swindon or remaining at Rotherham until the summer now then.

Not very fond of Robbo’s comment about seeing whats been offered for our players this week ? no incomings close apparently but seemed positive about getting a couple in this week.

Robinson said theres going to be a meeting on Monday to see where we are financially now, considering the cup replay and probable tv money. Nothing close regarding incoming players yet but he did hint that there might have been some interest in our players if I heard right?

Edit: Beat me to it Barry!

Didn’t hear what was said on the radio earlier. I assume by the comments above we’ve not got anything lined up?

I think today showed that someone up top to pitch in if Taylor isn’t fit is definitely needed. Support for the back 4 is probably less of a priority.

Not having a midweek game will help us focus on getting deals over the line. I suspect Robinson is keeping things to his chest a little more after the usual criticisms. The replay and (probably) tv money will hopefully help push a few deals through.

I’m sure you said getting Taylor deal over the line was close, is that still the case?

I didn't say it was close, I said a deal was on the table from last summer. If the players we are looking to bring in are all loans then I guess competing a permanent deal with Taylor would help. However, I think our energies will focus on getting new players in first.

@Scotchegg know if any potential signings were watching at the ground yesterday in the end?
I don't know is the simply answer. However, I would say that Robinson was very reserved by saying signings are not close. A lot of work was done these last few days and could and should be concluded this week. The difficulty is that we are now looking at loans more than permanent deals with many wanting to wait until the summer to tie long term deals up. We all know that things change quickly in the last few days of a window so it's a case of wait and see. I haven't any names to add to the pot yet, but maybe Monday/Tuesday when everyone's back should fill in some blanks.

I dont really understand why we’re just looking at loans? Especially when earlier in the window there was talk of shelling out over £500k on Cadden. Everyone knows we’re crying out for a striker and cover at RB. We’ve proved in the past that we can go and sign good players in permanents and now with the FA cup money we must be in a good place

I expect that one of the main reasons is that we dont know which Division we will be in.
We need to get players in who could be comfortable in the Championship.
On the other hand a Championship quality player wont want the risk of playing in L1.

I think that’s right. Much more likely to sign a Premier League youngster or two on loan, plus another permanent signing which is seen as ‘one for the future’

What will be interesting is if we can resist any offers which come in for Dickie or Baptiste.

It's not that we are looking at loans, but the permanent targets we had are not being released by their clubs. Money talks so that may change as we get closer to deadline day but we can't force clubs to sell and shouldn't pay over the odds for them

think KR mentioned something ( in a rad ox interview yesterday , post match?) about having a meeting/ chat as , with the replay v Newcastle, theres a bit more £ coming in, potentially to boost the squad ?
