General Jan transfer window

Hylton is a pest but scored some great goals and could kill a long high pass dead in an instant. Anyway, I think we’ve moved on, and he may be injured anyway.
I’m a big fan of Mackie, I admire his commitment, passion and shithousery, and think he’s a big asset to the squad, but he doesn’t score goals, and doesn’t even get in the right positions to score goals, but his experience and work rate, along with the other qualities I mentioned are inspirational and infectious, which is why I’d be happy to keep him in the squad for as long as possible.

Danny Hytlon on the other hand, is a very talented player, who knows where the goal is, gets in good positions, and scores his fair share of goals, and can come into wide positions to get in behind defences and provide assists as well, and he also has a great work rate, is very tenacious and can run defenders ragged with his shithousery, and I would love to have Hylton, Mackie and Taylor in my squad, they’d terrorise defences!!

Arguing about whether Jamie Mackie or Danny Hylton was the best striker/shithouse?

George Baldock or Chris Cadden as the best defender or most beautiful?

Christ, I'm more patient than most but hurry up and sign someone before we start comparing Dannie Bulman and Matt Murphy, or Rufus Brevett and Richardinho!!!

Hylton
Baldock
Murphy
Ricardinho

Easy!

As others have said, maybeeveryone would be a bit more relaxed if Robinson didn’t continue to make his ‘imminent transfer’ announcements. We get this every window.

No, no, no, no, no.

The same 'everyone' would be complaining about the mushroom treatment, the information vacuum and the poor PR.

As you say, we get this every window, so why do some (apparently) grown men still throw cyber-tantrums?

Ok maybe its just me but I think theres a happy medium. Maybe Robinson could be a little bit more restrained with his announcements and promises? I think he just brings pressure onto himself when he says that 2/3 players are joining in the next couple of days and then has to back track. Im not ‘Robinson bashing’, as I go on to say in my post, so many things can change, theres so many potential snags out of his control, so why put extra pressure on yourself? I agree with you on one point though, why the clamour for signings at the moment?! The squad we have is doing great.

I think the clamour is simply around the fact we have got ourselves into a good position, a unique one that we may not have for several more years and we can see the team is struggling a little. Players look fatigued, if injury hits we are having to rejig....coming into the final stretch and we can all see the squad needs ‘refreshing’ - not necessarily players that go straight into the 11 but options to change a game.

For example, Holland coming on vs Doncaster would be ideal once Fosu’s legs had gone. Maybe Kelly to replace the passing range of Brannagan. Just gives us more, quality options

Stephen O' Donnell RB at kilmarnock out of contract in summer is rumoured ..anyone else seen this.

Sorry but what’s having played in the PL got to do with proving yourself in L1 ? I asked the question has Mackie, in your opinion, proved himself in L1 ? In my opinion what I’ve seen from Mackie in L1 in a shithousery sense Hylton could have done the same job.

In a 46 game L1 season you’re telling me Danny Hylton wouldn’t score more than 4 goals ? Totally disagree with that. He’d score more than 4.
Hasn’t proved himself in L1

Really? I don't think Hylton is anything close to the physical force that Mackie is.
Hylton is a pest; Mackie is a thug (and I say this with affection. Some of OUFC's greatest ever players are thugs!)

If I had to choose between the two of them to run on to a through-ball and score - I'd pick Hylton. Undoubtedly he's the better goalscorer. But a glance at the League One table would suggest that we're not exactly starved for goals this season.
If I had to choose between the two of them to battle a 6ft 5in ogre of a centre back for a high ball, retain possession and/or win a free kick in the face of a clattering, or generally make an opposition defender's day physically miserable - it would be Mackie every time.

Injured? He doesn't appear to have played this season, for anyone?

he isn’t good enough for the championship

Some people have very short memories the hylton in his prime when had him was exceptional.
He would have been fine in lge 1 with us
But not fine with others he hasn’t proved himself in L1 and yes I liked him

Three minutes past midnight on Jan 4th and this thread is 53 pages long, we deserve some signings for our tenacity alone!
We were told first three would be in by today then Two but now not even one urs the same every transfer window....we will probably get in a couple of unknowns by the 31st of January just in time for ya to leave the EU

But is it definite Holland and Kelly are coming here, there have been to many people putting players in the team that aren’t here and then they don’t appear in any of our taleams as they’ve gone elsewhere. Yes I did see the West Ham blog but they also have David Moyes now who may change his mind. We have to be careful what we wish for

Let's get it right, Robinson said that he HOPED to have three in during the first week. He then said that we had one deal that had stalled, so he was HOPING to get two in by today. Neither were expected to play today so the difference between being announced last night, today or Monday is mainly irrelevant. There have only been 2 or 3 deals already completed in League 1 so it's not like we are behind anyone in this process and everything emains in place to get these deals over the line soon.

It has been widely reported that Nathan Holland will be in the West Ham squad today and will move to us next week. If this is the case, we are getting a very exciting young player in, who will be match fit and ready for the Rotherham squad. Liam Kelly is another player that I expect to be announced next week, but we are not the only club looking at him and we all know that you can do all of the preparation work but completing the deal is often the hardest part. But I'm still very confident that we will have these two players in the club before our next league game with more to come.

If you honestly think that this is going to be a failed transfer window with a couple of unknowns coming in on deadline day then you're in for one hell of a surprise!

I’m not saying it’s going to be a failed window, and yes I maybe pleasantly surprised, who knows Moyes maybe pleasantly surprised with Holland in their cup game and may want to loan or maybe want to keep him, who knows. As for Kelly do we know QPR are going to let him come here?.

don’t get me wrong it Robbo pulls of a couple of deals that will help us achieve promotion all very well, but and it is a bit since Robbo has been here all transfer windows have been getting the buisness done quick but it never happens. If he has identified targets I would trust he has made inroads into acquiring them, He said he has been told two loans are done deals or so he has told Radox and a premier player has phoned to say he wants to come here but maybe his manager doesn’t know he phoned Robbo, and maybe the loans the parent clubs have received better deals forum other clubs for their services.

who knows?

maybe KR should keep his potential dealings to himself and then amaze when the damn klaxon sounds.
