General Jan transfer window

It's amazing how we can always find "independent" people to exactly support our views!!

My Doncaster friend (who doesn't exist!) says that Mackie is the player they fear the most and Hall will tear them a new one!!!

My Doncaster friend doesn't like football and my Lincoln friend supports Villa. He says that Jimmy Rimmer was a good goalkeeper.

We’re excited! Fearful. Expectant. Impatient.
We do however, need fresh impetus into the squad and it is evident that Brannagan’s injury is ongoing.
Fosu has lost a bit of form too and the free-scoring blitz that we all witnessed earlier this season has mellowed into something more pragmatic.
We haven’t quite got the zip we had and I think that a speedy winger may be just what we need too.
Caddens departure needs a new guy perhaps?
We clearly have a superb recruitment team that must have identified what/who is needed. I trust in them to get the best out there for our promotion push.

I do worry about who May be off though...

What with that grinch at Sheffield United never far from burgling the family silver.?

Not sure who KR was directing his comment at yesterday re; comments about ‘acting like a big club’ in the transfer window?

Very odd! But I guess he does come out with random stuff at times.

I don't think he was aiming that, at anyone? It's a fair comment. If Oxford want to be a big club, we have to act like one - both on and off the pitch. Not every comment has some cryptic attachment.

This thread will be an amusing read over the next few weeks with people offering their opinions on players etc, I just hope when the window shuts we still have all our current players (cadds apart) and we have a few new bodies in the building to give us a realist chance to make the play off's at minimum.

But why say it, especially in relation to the transfer market/window?

If I had to guess I’d say it was directed at the board e.g. he went on to say about meeting Tiger etc in London, leaving Charlton because he wants to get promotion to the Championship and knows how to do it.

I personally think he was telling the board to make the right offers to get deals done quickly and don’t P**s about, thus losing out on players and getting them across the line now rather than waiting until the end of the window and potentially endangering our current momentum/position.

I’m still convinced that Cadden will stay/join. Just very quiet from his side, and general comments/non comments from the media etc.

If we want to be a big club, we must know our worth and stick to it! We can't be bullied around by teams in the championship, if thats where we aspire to be! Why bend over for clubs like Derby when right now, we would smash them more often than not. We must think, talk and act like a big club. I see nothing amiss in those comments, I think it's a positive comment to make.

I agree with his comment, but who’s he trying to convince? I’m sure he doesn’t have to convince the fans as we know we’re a big club, and certainly don’t want our key players to leave e.g. Dickie to Derby etc or like I said on another response, lose out on key players we’re after.

I think its pretty obvious that we have not been historically particularly great at landing our targets. This is either because weve not offered the going rate (Matt Godden) or various other reasons.

Robbo is saying that needs to end if we are serious. No last minute scrabbling around on deadline day for Jerome Sinclair and the like (who did well but whom youll never convince me was in our top 10 targets).

I don't think it was said to convince, I think it was said as a statement of intent! The more you say something, the more you believe it. The more the fans hear it, the more they'll believe it. The more the players hear it, the more they'll believe it. Positive reaffirmation.

If that’s the case then say, we are a big club and not that we’ve got to act like one?

So who’s it directed at?

I think you're making a mountain out of a mole hill, mate. Like I said before, not everything is directed at anyone or anything. I think he was referring to our ability to be shrewd in the transfer market, like a lot of the big clubs are.

We haven't won all decade. We are still a dozen points short of avoiding relegation, yet all people do is talk about promotion and KRs choice of words - and whether he should inform people as demanded of him, or say nothing as demanded of him.

KR seriously needs to learn from Tory politicians, the art of talking at length without saying anything, yet through presentation alone, having the loyal support of these who listened intently to nothing being said.

I just hope we get the points we need to stay up before the end of April!
