I saw most of the home games through a gate in the London rd fence , a sledgehammer to crack a nut, I thought the most was a knee jerk reaction in the first place, the pitch at times has to serve as a place of safety in times of emergency, plus i think that Maxwell finally got the idea that Thames valley totals was a non starter after a very peaceful pitch protest

I’m guessing you mean Thames Valley Royals but yes agreed ?

That was the 3 - 0 game the previous April. During summer 85 the Cuckoo Lane fence was re-built, a fair bit higher and right to the floor, with no wall at the bottom. Happy memories again all of this!! :) x

We were pretty much untouchable back then, we’d have bets amongst our group on how many goals we’d score, not if we’d win or not, that was a given, just on how many goals we’d get

John Trewick a.k.a. the Crab. A player that allowed others to play.

Yep, live on a Sunday afternoon. Classical smash and grab win, we were battered by Derby that day, Reece was phenomenal keeping them out, then a late winner ? Happy days.

When a live football game on TV was actually an event whoever was playing unlike now with the saturation levels of football on TV.
