Away Match Day Thread +++ 03/08/2019 L1: Sunderland v OUFC MDT +++

Robbo.

Hard when you come here and nothing goes your way - against the favourites. So many players in their team to come back, but we played together. The Dickie goal, Mackie tugged by keeper, tugged back, given FK not seeing all the stuff. Same thing later. Robbo steaming. 4th official said why not a free kick in the pitch.

Ruffs said he touched the ball and man - we are furious with everything. One of the worst performances I've seen all season ?. Player deserve more and didn't get it. Big week this week, play biggest spenders next week. 3 or 4 more players coming in.

Aside from Ref, better decision making in final third did hurt. We need pace on the counter and lacked it today. Looked fit today.

Need more fire power on bench. their bench littered with top, top players. We looked comfortable. Mous and Dickie were solid today. Moore is a man mountain. Hanson been best player in pre-season - Gorrin showed what he could do today and why we got him in.

Season started with a bang! Today, old KR crept in with officials - KR said he should have been booked today and punished. Ref knew I was right but need to be done for that. My fitness coach told not to give water out when everyone else giving them out. One of those days, says Nathan.

Should Ruffels dive in? Yes, if he wins the ball. Jamo squares ball and gets clatered from behind, not a penalty. Cleaned out like them, nothing given. Players desire and we are hated, we matter, no one else does. It's all about us.

Not knowing the details of the game as didn't listen and not being there, I'm happy with a point as I would have taken that before the game.

More points after the one than we had after the first four last season!

I guess we'll take that. The performance in itself should be inspiring enough to give us positive aspirations for the season.

Ref was an incompetent homer.

But on balance, a draw was fair. They had the lion's share of the play, but didn't do a whole lot with it. We were under the kosh plenty, but looked dangerous when we did get forward.

Dickie was absolutely immense. It's great that we've got him signed up for another year already!

Encouraging start (especially compared to last year), and a good point away to a team that will be up there.

Hated but rated. That will do me

I grew tired of the constant whistle blowing every time a yellow went near one of theirs and i was watching without sound:)

i thought we gave them too much space in the midfield and at times invited pressure, can't recall either keeper being troubled. Still can't fathom their free kick at the end, playing it square and then square again and ran out of ideas which did us a big favor
Defence was very solid but don't want to see too much trying to dribble past 2 or 3 opponents from out the back, we rode our luck a bit.
Overall a good point and allowing for it being the first game both sides should improve but can see why Sunderland struggled to finish teams off last season.

Two strikers and centre back and this team could go on to do something this season. Fantastic support as usual.

Well for what it’s worth great point,Oxford seemed up for the game.
Never a penalty, strangely the Sunderland supporters agree and are saying useless refereeing!!
Dickie, great game and can see why we tried so hard to get Cadden.
Have to say my heart sank when McGuire came on.
