Luke Garbutt

As in Jordan Graham?

I'd take Garbutt back on loan and not even bother with Graham tbh. Too concerned with showing off and trying to beat a man 3 times before putting in a sh*te ball.

Much better, younger players with more passion out there than Jordan Graham, as much as I loved his first spell with us.

Not saying there’s not better than Jordan out there, but I’d prefer him over Garbutt.

Just think he (Jordan) just needs to beat his man and deliver, and I think he’s more capable of doing as a natural singer.

But Garbutt was scoring goals, getting assists and helping out defensively to a better standard than Graham was. As a team we looked so much more solid with Garbutt than Graham.

Without over exaggerating Garbutts ability, Bale was a left back at Tottenham and he did alright being played out of position. Malcolm Shotton saw Garbutt play when he was on loan at ?Cheltenham in the LW position and Shotton said he was the best player on the pitch.

I just dont see what Graham brings to the team that Garbutt doesn't.

I said it doesn’t SEEM like a lot of clubs are busting a gut to sign him reading the article.

I mean, you’d like to think a few Championship clubs or top end League One clubs would be after him if he was any good, but they don’t appear to be, so you might also think that might be an indicator as to whether he’s that good or not.
Do even YOU know what you’re talking about?

Just don’t think things were right between Graham and Robinson towards the end and this effected his performances, but prior to that he showed what he was capable of.

Shall we also start the conversation about why on earth we got rid of Xemi last season, and brought in Brannagan instead? I know the stats don't back it up in any way whatsoever, but I though the Catalan kid was clearly better than the Scouser.

Garbs is in the final year of his contract, and due to his age, Everton would receive nothing should he move to another club next summer. It's generally agreed that Everton will not be offering him a new contract, so he is a liability (wages) rather than an asset. So, Everton would ideally sell on... But is there a buyer willing to offer Garbs a financial package that tempts him to give up his current deal?

So... Could it be that Oxford offer him a contract, and Garbs and Everton reach an agreement to terminate their contract? Garbs getting a payout from Everton to leave...

Agree. Up the U’s is a regular supporter but seemingly spends most of his time at games reading the programme. Garbutt was far more effective than Graham.

Towards the end of the season there was a case for saying he was our best player.

I don’t disagree Potter, Garbutt was better than Graham towards the end of the season, but I still believe Graham is a better player.

I think Graham’s drop in performances was down to Robinson’s poor management of him rather than his capability. He showed he’s more than capable of beating players for fun, but for some reason he was trying too hard, may be to impress, hence why I would have him over Garbutt.

If you truly believe that Robinson managed Graham badly (despite nothing to back this up!), then why would anything be different this season? Robinson isn't going anywhere!

I am not sure how you can suggest that Grahams poor performance was due to Robinsons poor management?
Robinson appeared to want Graham to do well. He only left him out after a number of poor performances. Garbutt came in and things improved. He clearly added some defensive solidity as well as scoring and making goals.
Surely Graham has to take some responsibility for his performances?

An Ipswich supporting mate said that Graham was dross for them and they were extremely poor , I hope injuries haven't done for him but that yard of pace seemed missing to me.

Tosh. Many people had high expectations of Graham, including me. But he failed to deliver. It was nothing to do with Robinson’s “poor management” of him.

You could be right, but I believe that was shortly after being out with a serious injury which can can months to recover from, so I’d like to think with another summer’s build up to match fitness etc, he’d come out guns blazing this season.

Putting the Graham issue aside, I still think we can do better than Garbutt, just my opinion.

If we get him (Garbutt) let’s just hope he sets the world alight.

Robinson’s always learning, he admitted that himself.
