That's pure speculation as well.
The Council appeared to want to be involved in making the ground a community asset.
I assume that the new investors want to make money out of leisure facilities round any new ground. Maybe it could be a win win?
Making the club sustainable of course also costs the owners less and increases the value of the club when eventually they look to sell.
Let's hope Oxvox are open and challenge once it all comes out. They can't take the attitude that whatever happens wont be for the benefit of the club.
Yes speculation but a realist view imo.
The council made sound bites about the stadium becoming a community asset as they had some financial input, I’m not sure they would have the sway to push for that off of a private business enterprise on a new stadium.
If the owners managed to make money off a new stadium it would go in their back pocket, that’s the reason they are here.
Brighton cost £90m to build and how much is the club in debt, that was carried out by a rich fan, these guys are here for the money they can make, I think if they can’t get the right land deal to facilitate their plans why would they hang around?
We have seen recently how the club view Oxvov.

Sure, certainly the pay on the day people.

How will they be convinced of that before these season starts?

Anyway, I’m glad that lots of people are excited. I wish I was.

It a rollercoaster mate, a few good signings and early result and fans will turn up, we’re u excited the day Darryl turned up? Look where that took us (first part). Jerome was asked once what he made of it all, with these new owners. His answer was something along the lines of, it’s either gonna go horribly wrong, or we gonna have wealth above and beyond anything we have ever seen. We’ve had a lot of owners keen to take us on a journey, we’ve never had them with the financial fire power to do it. That’s not to say they will, but as we don’t own any land or have any real assets, the only way they can make money, is to improve or stadium situation, and to improve our league position. And that is a fact

And how many other clubs give theirs ?
Have Man Utd ever said when they think they will be back challenging for the title?

Have Liverpool owners ever said in how many years they wanted klop to win the league ?

Have Man City ever said what timescale pep has to win the champions league.

It doesn’t happen in football, if it does like Bazzer says above its just used as a stick to beat people when it doesn’t happen. Darryl didn’t lay out a full plan including stadium situation, in fact he didn’t even consider the stadium important to start with. What he did do, was just get on with it, building behind the scenes. (Before dissembling the good work) and put things in place that helped achieve promotion.

While there are clear mistakes and things to improve on, I think some of the good being done is getting missed.

The communication people say is poor is actually better than for a few years, we’re getting regular updates from the academy, and marketing/ticketing department.

There is a working group set up for fans to put forward their ideas and concerns direct to staff on the ground, and the ifollow and social media are as good as they ever have been.

The infrastructure has given us a new state of the art training complex which we’ve been lacking for decades.

An academy producing some serious talent, the likes of which we haven’t had in these numbers for a long time.

And an u23 team, which bridges the gap to the academy as well as giving injured players vital game time.

We’ve implored a load of new academy staff, coaches and scouts and are probably not far off gaining a rise in our status level.

And we are seriously considering a move away from the Kassam, which is the furthest down the line it has probably ever been since we moved there.

But hey what’s the plan

But apart from all that; what have the billionaires ever done for us? ;)

No idea, they haven’t told us the plan [emoji6]. Who knows what will be happening in 6 years time or where we will be. But I don’t really see that as any different under tiger to under Darryl. What I will say, is training ground, academy and u23’s 1/don’t come cheap. And 2/ are long term projects for the good of a football club, if ur here for a quick turn around by getting promotion and selling, u don’t invest £m’s into an academy and infrastructure that comes out of ur potential profit and only benefits future owners

True but the training ground was started before tiger came on the scene, if these backers disappear so will tigers finance and where will that leave the club and with what debt.

If all they were interested in is a property deal, then there is a lot easier and cheaper ways of doing it, than buying a l2 football club that loses £2m a season, knowing u have to find that for at least 5/6 years and that’s with no guarantee u will even get permission

I hope you’re right. I’ve been seriously unimpressed to see my club become an object of ridicule through non-payment of our creditors and shocked by the non-payment of staff.

We all hope for and deserve better; it’s over to them.

It was, but I think what we have now is way over the original spec and cost . Including managing our own pitches. Lots of things were started before they came on the scene, but also lots of things were stripped that have had to be built back up. The academy was on the verge of losing its category licence due to the staff it needed, it’s now pushing for the next category up.

Of course there is, so explain why these unconnected people are hovering around our club?
The ways I see they can make money off the club.
Be successful on the pitch and take us up the league(s), that will cost some amount of money.
Sell the brand in Asia through TV rights utilising their own media expertise.
Buy land (if possible) and build a new retail complex that incorporates a football stadium to help the above two realise their potential.

A nice dream situation that hinges on a new build somewhere, but from our supporting point of view it has to be a stadium that is fit for purpose not a tag on item in a retail emporium.

Sounds right, but wasn’t a lot of that extra money tiger had to through his shortcomings of due diligence.

Dunno Maybe it’s a bit of all those things ?

We have a name that at higher levels would market very well abroad.

We have a catchment area that has no other team and recent success with a model of developing and selling players, and were in a geographical area that if granted a new stadium and surrounding business could be valuable.

And maybe above all, we’re currently a small enough train set that it’s worth a gamble without costing a fortune (in their terms)

Totally agree.
Any new ground needs to be a big improvement on what we have (not difficult)
Whatever happens the club needs to come out if what is about to happen better off.
Lets see ....

I think sometimes fans need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. They get wrapped in short term results/league table positions. Now there is nothing wrong with that but the bigger picture shouldn't be forgotten about.

If you go back through this forum I think you will find that what is happening now is what a few posters (I'll blow my own trumpet and say I was one of them!) were predicting would happen during the time the team were shipping 3 or 4 goals a game.

This has a been a big year for OUFC off the pitch and a lot of good has happened to build the club for the future. That also includes all the mistakes that have been made that I certainly wouldn't expect to see happen again next season.
Yes, and you also said on numerous occasions that you knew about strikers and we were fine for goals...

Yes a new ground has to be a big improvement on what we have, 5 sites where? Where else is bigger in Oxford than what we have?

We have been fine for goals? Scoring hasn't been our problem this season, it's been the defence and conceding stupid goals.

The club and the surrounding car parks has a huge footprint in Oxford terms, finding something similar in the whole sites footprint which includes two hotels and the other retail outlets will be challenging.

That’s partly because we have a car park where one of the stands should be though.

Look at an aerial photo of the stadium. A 4th stand would impact very little of the west end car park. It would in effect be a bigger east stand car park.

Just in case anyone misses it as it’s not under the heading - “the plan”

Here’s Erick giving some detail on timescale.

And there’s also a 55min fans forum tonight, giving some more communication

Yes a nice sound bite to get the fans on side and very welcome, but what are all these people really here for and how long will they stay?
