Anindya Bakrie

Or, the club builds a new ground over the next 5 years whilst paying the agreed rent. The council approve additional land for housing but are happy for the current land to be used for leisure facilities significantly reducing any value on the site.

Kassam wants to get as much cash as he can from the club, and forcing a closure on the stadium deal soon will give the best return. That is why he is being more of a dick at the moment, and probably why we're looking to mess him about as much as possible.

Yes - I'm not sure why people think this will cause Kassam issues. Scenarios appear to be:

1) They agree a price to buy the stadium - FK wins because he can ask for a decent price given their wealth or refuse to sell

2) They fund a new stadium - FK wins because he continues to receive the rent whilst we play at the Kassam and then once we leave levels it and the Council fawn all over him asking if they can build houses on the site. FK then sells the land to a developer for a tidy sum.

Um....that's it?
Agree. Kassam can't lose.
But with Kassam involved the club can't win....

Looking at their successful backgrounds, I can't help feel that the University and prestige of the city is an attraction to them.
Bakrie in particular is very involved in TV /media and education sponsorship. The first might be to our advantage, the second may explain the attraction of OUFC.

Unlikely imho, they have significant housing targets to hit. Would make me smile though.

Indeed - the arrival of these folk make me tentatively optimistic but people who think FK is going to suffer will be disappointed. Personally I couldn't care about the outcome for FK as long as OUFC's outcome is a good one.
Indeed Kassam is a nailed on winner here unfortunately but I just want Oufc away from him in all ways as he is nothing but a pain in the backside and will be as long as he has any involvement.

Whatever our starting perspective, we must hear from those that know.

Clear communications to the fans that they rave about. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for.

He says he's here to offer help and guidance. Doesn't say he's going to invest or take an active role in the day to day running of the club.

Well. I'm trying not to get too excited but this is some pretty big news! As @Manorlounger suggested above, there must be something pretty significant going on behind closed doors. These guys, combined, have more money than Scotland...

What more than 2 shillings a goat and a half bottle of iron brew!

I think you're overlooking the fact that having several people with very strong business acumen at the club, offers more benefits than just money. Of course, that is what we all want but there is more than that. Being able to spend money is great but turning the club into a profitable business is just as, if not, more important.
So this board of directors have at least a collective worth of over £10 billion, they have been here all season, how many WUP,s have we had or threatened with, I’m sure the staff were impressed by their collective worth while waiting for their wages.
Yes it’s great they are here with that financial clout, be nice to know the reason as it seems they haven’t backed up our cash flow out of their loose change.

While speculating the benifits of wealthy owners/board members and their potential spending power on oufc

A cautionary note .. remember that wealthy fella (!) Who was the owner a decade or so ago .. who is our current landlord....not all wealthy owners turn out to have the best interests of the club in mind

They usually dont make mega money by being 'nice guys' . ... often acumulation of vast wealth comes with ruthlessness

Also, with Tiger at the helm, communication for us mushrooms hasnt been all that from day one.

And I remember the Gas boasting a 4/5 seasons ago about their new owner a rich sheik, 4/50years on I think he is still the owner and we can see what he's done for the Gas.

Well quite and that’s why I’m not getting too carried away. Appears to me that the other board members are all saying that they’re here to offer their experience and advice to Tiger. What exactly does that mean?

It’s almost as if they’re saying this is Tiger’s baby on a day to day business, however if ( & it’s a huge if) he manages to get any progress on the outside possibility of a potential new stadium then we’re here with the finances.

I'm not sure what Kassam is worth but surely these guys blow him out of the water?

The money Kassam could make from OUFC was pretty substantial for him but as it stands currently, what is really in it for these businessmen?
So FK makes circ £200k a year off the club, that’s not big money by any extreme in his world, add in all his other business’s profits and now that will be a substantial sum.

You would think that the rent and service charge is peanuts to the collective of our board, they have certainly not impressed me so far, I’m not pissing my pants with excitement and until I see or hear something with foundation I will err on the side of caution.

Wouldn’t it be better for them to buy the whole site to help realise their financial dream.

Bit of an understatement. The average operating profit for the last 6 years for Firoka (Oxford United Stadium) Ltd, according to the filed accounts is £563K. The latest (2018) was £529K.

I don’t know what people expect him to say in an interview, ‘I’m worth billions and I’m going to add millions to the playing budget and secure the services of championship level players!’

If clubs and agents got wind of that it would add a substantial margin to the cost of any player and their wages.

Putting in the media that the budget will remain the same or slightly less than last year is a far better idea.....

Does that not include all franchised outlets and all the letting of the building for conferences etc, I mentioning just the football club input.
