Winding-up petition number 5 - Here we go again!!!

https://www.oufc.co.uk/news/2019/april/firoka-statement/ - Club statement !

"The club is reviewing its position and reserving its right to instigate further arbitration proceedings if necessary, but we remain hopeful that we can work with Firoka/Mr Kassam to finally find a FAIR deal for all concerned and for the club to work with a FAIR stadium agreement going forward."

1 million a year to rent the ground? Surely buying the ground would be a better deal! I'm not I really understand the set up with the ground and the club. Seems to me Mr Kassam has the club over a barrel?

Cut and paste of the statement.

Oxford United would like to clarify their position following a winding up petition from Firoka, which was issued yesterday.
The club has been working with Firoka/ Mr Kassam to come to a fair agreement over the rent and service charge which we pay for the use of the Kassam Stadium. The amount in dispute is £204,000, relating to the quarterly money due in advance for the next quarter of the year. In addition to this we also pay an extra service charge which brings the rent to approximately £1million a year.

The club and Firoka had previously agreed to sit down face to face on 26th March to discuss the charges and to try to find a way forward which would be satisfactory to all parties. The service charge has been subject to a long, drawn out arbitration hearing which the club halted after Firoka suggested that by doing so we could sit down more easily for constructive discussions. All agreed sums due to date for previously disputed service charges under the arbitration have been paid by the club.

Last week’s meeting was cancelled by Firoka at short notice. We accept that the payment had been missed but immediately asked for another meeting as well as offering to pay the outstanding amount on April 10th in the interests of allowing constructive discussions to take place with Firoka regarding the use of the stadium and to avoid any dispute proceedings being necessary.

We have tried several times since then to arrange a meeting but have been unsuccessful so far. We are extremely disappointed that a winding up petition was issued and that the press were notified. The club is reviewing its position and reserving its right to instigate further arbitration proceedings if necessary, but we remain hopeful that we can work with Firoka/Mr Kassam to finally find a FAIR deal for all concerned and for the club to work with a FAIR stadium agreement going forward.

Oh God.

a. A service charge doesn't change the rent FFS; it's a service charge.

b. Get the chronology sorted, we missed the payment, Firoka cancelled the meeting, we offered a new date, Firoka has gone schtum and I bet ehy won't reply till the payment is received.

c. Bleating on about "fair" is beside the point or a red hering - that's what the arbitration was for.

Not impressed.

We cannot trust our Chairman or any of the cronies he has added to the Board. A points deduction is now a very real possibility. What a bloody mess!!
A points deduction happens if we go into Administration

Also Id like to add that is a statement on the club not paying for the ground, what about the fact the club didnt pay staff, its all too fishy !!!!

Tiger is skint, if the FA did there fit and proper test correctly how can if this gets worse can the club face sanctions and 12 point etc (I hope it doesn't get that far) but surely the FA must have seen all this in the clubs records when he signed on to buy the club in first place!

I have it would seem, Its a joke, I never got into the owner, stadium owner thing, just got my season ticket and watched the boys. Only recently have I become more informed with the day to day running of the club
Fair play. Basically until we find a new home or purchase the ground from Ka££am (which won't happen), they'll be problems!

This is the way Kassam and his minnions operate. Always has, always will. If he had the slightest inkling that a meeting would not be to his advantage he would cancel it or postpone it. I suspect Tiger is out of his depth dealing with such a ruthless businessman. I hope not. Thohir may have greater clout if he ever materialises.

Perhaps Teresa and Jeremy could be asked to add this to their agenda of tricky issues to solve for the good of the Nation?

The crap is clustering fast. How will we attract the calibre of signings we need in the summer?

Spot on as ever PC. Perpetuating the myth that we pay £1m per year rent helps nobody.

The club say that all sums due to date had been paid, but they don’t say if they were paid on time. As Firoka had already tried to issue a WUP, I would suggest that they haven’t.

Really makes you wonder Phoenix doesn't it? Anyway I now have Tigers Bank details:
Royal Bank of Nankypoo - Sort Code 00-00-00, A/C No. WOWWOW
32 Greek Street, Soho, London - take rear entrance behind Strip club & ask for Harry.

A reasonable statement and I did wonder when the club mentioned in passing that a meeting with Kassam had been cancelled. Funny, as has been mentioned, that he is available for comment to the Oxford Mail but isn't able to rearrange the meeting with the club. Will Kassam live up to his comments when he talked about the club dropping the arbitration or is it his usual BS?

Christ, Kassam is a ruthless pig with no compassion for our football club but I actually can't blame him in times like these. I hate the fact he charges our football club such an outrageous service charge and rent for such an appalling stadium... but he does. That's the rent, that's the service charge.

Tiger knows the charge, the rent, he knows how much he has to pay his staff each month, and HMRC. Yet again though he fails to pay on time leaving our club in a mess. All FK can see is Tiger failing to pay his staff and the taxman, all that's doing is sending alarm bells. FK wants his money and probably has little confidence he'll receive it with Tiger at the helm.

We're really stuck with 2 cronies right now
